Zoey nods. “Sure. Where do you think he’ll be?”

“He was in the lobby a little while ago. He could be by the pool, or in his room by now.”

They told Cameron to fuel up his helicopter, but I doubt Dale went with him for that, and it was a while ago. It wouldn’t take Cam too long to get out to the airstrip and back again. He might have wasted a bit of time searching, but I made it pretty obvious the fuel supply is empty.

“Okay. I’ll go find him and make sure he’s good.”

She gets up, and I watch her walk back to her other mates.

They let her pass. The Beta takes a step to follow her, and the Alpha stops him.

Russ definitely has the closest bond with our mate. He argues a little with Archer before he leaves, going after Zoey. He might have the closest bond right now, but that’s going to change soon enough.

Archer shakes his head before he walks toward me.

I sit up a little straighter.

Finally. I get to talk to the Alpha.

Chapter Sixty

Zoey

When I leave the dining room and start searching, I find Dale sitting on the stairs that lead up to his bedroom. He looks deep in thought, and he feels conflicted. I approach slowly, not sure if he’s interested in my company right now.

His head goes up when I get closer, and his eyes take a second to focus once he looks at me.

“Zoey, hey,” he greets me, with a bit less enthusiasm than he usually seems to be stuffed full of.

“Hey,” I greet him back. “Zane wanted me to check on you.”

“Well, consider me checked on,” he says, getting to his feet and doing a twirl. “And checked out.”

I laugh, but I can tell something’s still bothering him even if he’s capable of joking around.

“Do you mind showing me where I can get changed?” I ask, deciding to spend a little more time with him before I head back to the dining room. Giving my other mates more time to talk can’t be a bad thing. They’ve got a lot to wrap their heads around.

“Sure,” Dale tells me, turning and putting his hand on the staircase’s railing. “Right this way.”

He holds out a hand to me, and I take it, letting him lead me up the stairs.

His bedroom door is open, and he points it out. “The bathroom has rails for hangers. Apparently, your clothes are in the empty room next door.”

We walk past his room while I try not to wonder why there’s only one bedroom in this part of the hotel. I already know the answer. This place was made for three of us. The bed is big enough for double that number, coincidentally. I don’t think Zane knew about my other mates.

He knows so much about my life, but they seemed to come as a surprise, even if he’s acting like they’re a welcome surprise. I can’t lie, it’s really sexy that he likes the idea of all of us becoming a pack. I only wish Archer was giving off the same vibe.

I know that’s asking a lot, especially since he came out here thinking he was going to be rescuing me from bad guys. The twist that those guys aren’t bad is wild enough. Adding that they’re also my mates is probably what pushes it over the line into too much.

Hopefully Zane is right, and all he needs is time to process everything.

I follow Dale into the empty room next to his bedroom, and he heads straight for the closet that’s set against the far wall. He opens the doors, and the overstuffed rail inside makes me gasp.

“I know, right?” Dale asks. “How long does he think we’ll be staying here?”

I take a few steps and realize there’s nothing anywhere similar to what I’m wearing now.

Oh, there’s a lot of purple between the black and white and silver colored items, but there’s nothing that could be considered sweats-level casual.
