If he’s here because Zane asked him to help, that’s all that’s happened.

I relax a little, feeling like a hypocrite and a jealous mess.

I’ve been angry at Zane for so fucking long for never marking his Omega and taking care of him like a real Alpha should, but I know right now I would have been heartbroken if he had a mark on that perfectly bronzed skin.

“So, you didn’t get my messages, then,” Dale says, taking his phone out of his pocket and showing it to me.

He sent me messages? Shit.

“I didn’t,” I tell him.

I take the handset from him and read quickly, finding out that Zane drugged him and brought him out here as well as Zelena, after he helped with the intention of getting Zane to realize he was being crazy fixating on the singer.

Dale asked me to come and get him.

Hope blossoms inside me.

We’re not over.

“This is one of the kidnappers,” Archer says as he stops at my side.

I look at my Alpha friend, giving him a bemused smile. “Actually, he’s more like another victim.”

“He’s another …” he starts, narrowing his eyes before understanding hits him. “Is this Dale?”

“Nice to meet you,” Dale says, flashing him a smile.

“I’d like to say it was nice to meet you, but I’m not so sure right now,” Archer tells him.

“He helped that prick who’s supposed to be his Alpha,” I tell him. “I told you he can’t say no to that guy.”

I pass him Dale’s phone, and he looks at the texts Dale sent me.

Dale sighs heavily, and I can just tell he’s got more to say before I even look at him.

There’s something guilty in his gaze.

It makes my stomach flip over.

Oh no. I know that look.

“Uh, I sent that message before I met Zelena.” Dale shrugs.

He might not be wearing Zane’s mark, but he’s forgiven him.

“What does that mean?” I ask, keeping my gaze locked with his.

“It means I was wrong to doubt Zane. He knew who she was, and now she does, too.”

“What do you mean?” I ask him.

“Where are they?” Archer asks, his voice tense with irritation.

Dale frowns at Archer and looks back at me. “How well do you know these guys, Cam?”

Archer blows out an irritable breath. He’s been agitated this whole time while we’ve been looking for his client. I can’t help wondering if that might be because she’s more than just a client.

Thinking about how sick flying seems to make Kent, I know the only way I would do that to myself is if Dale’s life was depending on it.
