“You go and try them on. I’ll see what’s in the fridge that I can whip up for dinner.”
“No need. Your steak is in the warming oven, along with your baked potato and corn. The salad is in the refrigerator.”
“You said you threw it all in the trash,” he said.
“I wanted you to think I did because I wanted you to feel bad.”
“So, you lied to me?” His brow arched.
“Yeah. I guess I did. Oops. Am I forgiven?”
“I don’t know. Are you?” His brow arched before walking out of the bedroom.
Okay, I deserved that. I tried on my beautiful earrings and stared at them in the mirror. He was the most thoughtful and generous man in the world. After I put the earrings back, I slipped the box into my top chest drawer. Reaching up to the shelf in the closet, I took down the container of cookies I made. Walking downstairs, I saw Christian sitting at the table eating his steak, potato, and corn while looking at his phone.
“I bring you sweets as an apology for my behavior, my lord.” I took the lid off the container.
“I’m good right now,” he said as he wouldn’t look at me.
“I was hoping to be forgiven because I was going to—” I leaned over and whispered in his ear.
“And do that thing—”
“Uh, huh.” I smiled as I nodded.
He jumped up from his chair, swooped down, and picked me up.
“You’re forgiven. Grab those cookies.” He carried me up the stairs.
CHAPTER27
Christian
My arm hit the empty side of my bed as I rolled over. Opening my eyes, I smiled, for it was our wedding day. I climbed out of bed, threw on a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt, made a cup of coffee, and took it outside on the patio.
“Good morning, Dr. Kind! Happy wedding day!”
“Thanks, Giuseppe,” I shouted and waved to him.
“Today’s the big day.” Jackson smiled as he walked over and placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Finally.” I grinned. “I can’t wait to see her, bro.”
“I know the feeling all too well. Man, this beach has really been transformed. I can’t believe it.”
“We better be careful, or our guests might get some ideas.” I chuckled.
“Hey!” Shaun waved as he walked down from his house. “Happy wedding day, cousin.” He fist-bumped me.
“Thanks, Shaun.”
“We were just talking about how much the beach has been transformed, and Christian said we better be careful, or his guests might get some ideas and want to have their weddings on our beach,” Jackson said.
“Hmm. That could be a good business opportunity,” Shaun said.
“Don’t even think about it.” Jackson pointed at him, and Shaun laughed.
“I had to get out of the house for a minute. All the girls, food, mimosas, makeup, hair products, stylists.”
