“You don’t mean that.” I gripped her hand.
“The fuck I don’t!”
“I’m here!” Conner ran into the room. “Baby, how are you?” He walked over and kissed her forehead.
“How the hell do you think I am, Conner? I’m in excruciating pain!”
“Where’s Georgia?” Conner looked at me.
“She’s on her way.”
“Oh my God!” Charlotte screamed as she sat up.
“It’s okay, babe. Breathe.”
Half an hour had passed, and Georgia still wasn’t here.
“Dr. Kind, she’s dilated to eight,” Carly said.
My phone rang, and Georgia was calling when I pulled it from my pocket.
“Where are you?” I answered.
“There’s a bad accident on the expressway, and only one lane is open. Traffic is backed up for miles.”
“Charlotte is dilated to eight. Thirty minutes ago, she was at seven.”
“Shit. Tell her to hang in there, and I’m on my way.”
“Will do.”
“What did she say?” Conner asked.
“There’s a bad accident on the expressway, and she’s stuck in traffic. She’s trying her best to get here.”
CHAPTER20
Christian
“I can’t take it anymore. I have to push,” Charlotte said.
“Babe, you can’t do that until Georgia gets here.” Conner held the cool cloth on her forehead.
“Tell our daughter that!” she shouted.
Conner looked at me with worry.
I walked over to the counter, grabbed a pair of gloves, and put them on.
“Okay, Charlotte. Let’s see what’s going on.” I lifted the sheet and examined her. “You’re dilated to nine, and this baby is coming. Time to push, Charlotte.” I smiled.
“Bro, seriously?”
“Seriously. Let’s go.”
“Oh God!” she shouted as she sat up and pushed.
“That was good, Charlotte. Try to relax,” I said.
