“Goodbye, Grayson.” She shut the door the second I stepped out.
I exited the building and saw a black Infinity parked at the curb. Opening the door, I climbed into the back seat.
“Where to, sir?” the driver asked.
I rattled off my address, and he drove me home. I didn’t know what the hell happened tonight, but it would be one that I wouldn’t soon forget.

Ididn’t sleep the entire night. Before I knew it, six a.m. had arrived. I climbed out of bed, put on my wetsuit, grabbed my surfboard, and ran down the beach to where my brother and cousins were.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Gabriel’s brows furrowed.
“We didn’t expect to see you here this morning,” Christian spoke.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I put my board in the water.
“We heard about the hot chick at the bar,” Simon said. “Didn’t you spend the night?”
“She kicked me out the second we were finished.” I paddled out.
“Oh, damn.” Simon laughed. “I guess she doesn’t like overnight guests.”
“She told me it was best I didn’t stay and not to take it personally.”
“Uh-oh,” Jackson said. “She could be married or has a boyfriend.”
“I don’t think so, but who the hell knows.”
“What is wrong with you, bro?” Gabriel asked. “Something is off.”
“Nothing is wrong. I didn’t sleep at all last night, and I’m tired.”
“What time did you get home?” Shaun asked.
“One a.m.”
“And why didn’t you sleep?” Nathan asked me.
“I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about last night anymore. Let’s get surfing.”

Two Weeks Later
My shift at the hospital didn’t start for another hour, so I decided to drop by the medical center to see my brother.
“Good morning, Cara. Is my brother around?”
“Good morning, Dr. Kind. He’s in with a patient.”
“Okay. I’m going to head down to see my cousins. Tell him to text me when he’s available, and I’ll see if I have enough time to come back up.”
“Will do, Dr. Kind.”
I took the stairs down, and just as I reached the second floor, I heard the elevator ding. The doors opened, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw who stepped out.
“Hey.” I smiled as I ran over to her. “It’s good to see you.”
