“I am.” I walked over and kissed her. “Thanks for hooking me up.”

“You know I always take care of you when you drink too much.” She smiled as she tapped my nose. “Are you hungry? I can make you something. I ran to the market this morning and picked up some fresh lunch meat.”

“A sandwich sounds good, babe. Thanks.”

I walked over to the coffee maker and brewed a cup of coffee.

“What time did I get home last night?” I asked Charleigh.

“Around two a.m. You don’t remember me helping you up the stairs and into bed?”

“No.” I chuckled. “I don’t.”

“I’m not surprised.” A smirk crossed her lips. “The girls and I were talking last night, and the night before our wedding, I’m going to spend it at Jenni’s. We’re all getting ready at her house, and the guys are coming here.”

“Sounds like a plan, babe.” I took a seat at the table. “What the hell is all that noise?”

“Those are Stefan’s guys. They’re starting to build everything for the wedding.”

“Do they have to be so loud?”

“Shush up and eat your sandwich.” She set the plate in front of me.

CHAPTER26

Charleigh

Today was my only day off before the wedding, so I needed to get as much done as possible. The first and most important thing was picking up Christian’s wedding band. After leaving Cartier, I stopped at the florist, bought two bouquets of flowers, and headed to the cemetery.

“Hi, Dr. Kind.” I smiled as I approached his grave and set the bouquet of flowers down. I took a seat on the ground and set the other bouquet of flowers next to me. “I’m sure you already know this, but in three days, your son and I will be getting married. Can you believe it? We hit a few bumps in the road during the planning, but everything is working out perfectly. I wish you could have known your son, Dr. Kind. He’s such a brilliant man and cardiothoracic surgeon. You would be so proud of him. I just wanted to stop by and say hi and tell you that I promise to love and make your son happy for the rest of his life. I wish you were alive to attend our wedding, but somehow, I know you’ll be there watching over us as we become husband and wife. I love you, Dr. Kind.” I pressed two fingers against my lips and pressed them on his gravestone.

Getting up from the ground, I grabbed the second bouquet of flowers, walked over to Celeste’s grave, and set them down.

“Hi, Celeste. I wanted to let you know that you don’t have to worry about Nora. She is such a loved little girl, and she’s thriving. She’s happy with Simon and Grace, and everyone is taking great care of her. I truly hope you’re at peace, Celeste.” I brought two fingers up to my lips and pressed them on her gravestone.

After I left the cemetery, I stopped by Jenni’s studio to try on my dress one last time. When I stepped through the door, I went up the stairs and found Jenni in one of the rooms with Charlotte.

“Hey, you.” Jenni smiled when I walked in.

“Hi, Charleigh. Good news.” Charlotte grinned. “My dress needs to be taken in a little bit.”

“That’s awesome, Charlotte. Oh, my gosh, you look so beautiful in it.” I stared at her.

Looking over on the floor, I saw Isabella with her eyes open in her car seat.

“Can I take her out?” I asked Charlotte.

“Of course.”

I walked over, unbuckled her, lifted her from her seat, and held her over my shoulder. Charlotte’s phone rang, and Conner was Facetiming her.

“Oh, my God. He’s Facetiming you again?” Jenni asked.

“Just about every freaking hour,” Charlotte replied. “Charleigh, can you answer that for me?”

I grabbed her phone from the stool and answered it.

“Charleigh?” Conner’s brows furrowed.
