“I’m not sure.” Sebastian’s brows furrowed.

“Hello, everyone.” Aunt Barb smiled. “You remember Curtis.”

“No shit, Mom. He was our stepfather. What’s going on?” Simon asked.

“We both figured it was time to tell you that we’ve reconnected and have been seeing each other.”

“Why the hell would he want to get back with you after what you did?” Simon spewed.

Sam placed his hand on Simon’s back. “Bro, now isn’t the time. Curtis, it’s good to see you.”

“Thanks, Sam. It’s good to see all of you again.” A smile crossed his face.

“I bet Charlotte had something to do with this,” Conner whispered in my ear.

Aunt Barb walked over and hugged Sebastian. “How is my grandson doing?”

“He’s getting stronger every day, Mom.”

“Mom, seriously. What the hell is going on?” Simon asked. “Did you tell Curtis you shot a man?”

“I told him everything, Simon. I screwed up with Curtis because I was lost. I have always loved him, and he never stopped loving me despite the things I did. He’s an amazing man, and he’s forgiven me.”

“You know we’ve always loved Curtis, Mom. If you’re happy, we’re happy.” Sam hugged her.

Sebastian slapped Simon on the back of his head and gestured that he needed to behave.

“Ouch, bro. Yeah, Mom, we’re happy for you.” He hugged her.

After we ate, it was time for the gender reveal. Stepping outside on the patio, we all gathered around as Jenni handed each of us a confetti cannon that said boy or girl. I laughed as I looked at Shaun.

“You’re going to be cleaning up confetti for weeks.”

He let out a heavy sigh. “I know.”

Sam and Julia stood in front of us as we all pointed our cannons in the air.

“On the count of three, everyone set off your cannons,” Jenni shouted. “One. Two. Three!”

We all set off the cannons as blue confetti filled the air and poured on us.

“It’s a boy!” Sam shouted as he grabbed Julia and kissed her.

“Yes! I knew you could do it, Sammy!” Simon grinned as he pointed at him.

After we congratulated them, I grabbed a beer from the fridge and walked over to Sofia.

“Tomorrow is the big day. Are you nervous?”

“My prima ballerina has the best orthopedic surgeon in the country.” Conner smiled as he hooked his arm around her. “There’s no way she’s nervous.”

“All I can say is I’m not looking forward to this at all,” Sofia said.

“It’s for your own good.” Conner kissed the side of her head. “After I fix you up, you’ll be as good as new.” He walked away.

“Are you prepared?” I asked her.

“As much as I can be. I just want this over with and healed before your wedding.”
