I glanced over at Christian.
“You can’t put a price on beautiful peonies. Whatever the cost is, I’ll pay it. I want my beautiful fiancée to have all the peonies she wants.” He winked at me.
“Ah, I love you so much.” I leaned over and kissed his cheek.
After spending two hours with Giuseppe, we headed home.
“I see my brothers and some of my cousins down at the beach. Do you mind if I have a quick beer with them?” Christian asked.
“Go ahead. I’m going to take a relaxing bath and read some of my book.”
“Okay, babe. I won’t be down there long.” He kissed my lips.
CHAPTER11
Christian
“What’s going on out here.” I smiled as I took a seat next to Jackson.
“Just shooting the shit.” Simon smiled.
“Did you just get home?” Conner asked.
“Yeah. Charleigh and I had our appointment with Giuseppe for the wedding flowers.”
“All peonies?” Nathan asked.
“Yep. All peonies.” I took a sip of my beer. “Tomorrow is the big day.” I looked at Simon.
“Yeah, it is. Our attorney is prepared to cut Kathryn to shreds.” A smirk crossed his lips.
“I don’t think you have to worry. There’s no way the judge will give her custody of Nora when she has five brothers to take care of her. How is she doing?”
“A lot better now. Grace made a scrapbook of Celeste and our dad for when she’s older.”
“What are the two of you going to do with her when you have to go back to work?”
“We’re still working that out.” He sighed. “In all honesty, I think I might be losing my partner.”
“What do you mean?” Jackson asked.
“Grace wants to quit the LAPD and stay home with her. She said she can do private investigative work from home.”
“Wow, really?” My brows furrowed.
“Yeah. To be honest, we want to start trying for a baby, and I think it’s safer if she quits. She can’t be chasing down suspects being pregnant.”
“Everything happens for a reason, bro.” Sam placed his hand on Simon’s shoulder.
I finished my beer and headed back to the house. When I went to our bedroom, Charleigh was sitting in bed, reading her book. I stripped out of my clothes, brushed my teeth, and climbed in next to her.
“I missed you.” I snuggled against her.
“I missed you too. Anything new with the family?”
“Grace is thinking about quitting her job to stay home and raise Nora.”
“She did mention that on our girl’s trip. I know she and Simon want to start trying for a baby.”
