“Where is she?” Simon asked.

“Come on. I’ll take you to her.” I hooked my arm around him.

“Where’s Jackson?” Conner asked.

“He’s waiting for Georgia to finish up a C-section. Kathryn and David are on their way.”

We all gathered around Celeste’s body as sadness filled the room.

“What about the driver of the semi?” Simon asked.

“He didn’t make it either. All of their internal injuries were way too extensive. We did everything we could,” I spoke in a somber voice.

“We know you did.” Conner hooked his arm around me.

“Celeste!” Kathryn screamed as she ran over to her and grabbed her hand. Tears poured from her eyes as David gripped her shoulders from behind.

“Thank you for calling us,” he said.

“We’ll leave and give you some time alone,” I said.

“We have to think about Nora now,” Sam said as we all stood in the hallway.

“Nora will be fine,” Simon said. “She’s safe at my house.”

David and Kathryn stepped out of the room and walked over to us.

“We can stop by and take Nora,” Kathryn said.

“Nora is staying put,” Simon spoke. “She’s at my house with Grace.”

Charleigh reached over and grabbed hold of Kathryn’s hand. “You’re going to have your hands full with the funeral arrangements. Let us know if there’s anything we can help you with.”

“She should be buried with our family,” Sam said.

“And why is that, Sam?” Kathryn’s brows furrowed. “I don’t want my sister buried next to a man who promised her forever, cheated on her, and shattered her heart into a million pieces. She wouldn’t have wanted that either.”

“Nora’s mother and father should be in the same cemetery so she can visit them together,” Simon said.

“I will be deciding where my sister will be laid to rest. I’ll be in touch with the funeral details.” She walked away.

“I’m sorry,” David spoke. “She’s not thinking straight right now. I’ll talk to her.”

As soon as David walked away, I stared at my brothers and cousins.

“I never did care for Celeste’s sister.”

“Me either,” Simon said.

“We’re going to need to get into Celeste’s house to get Nora’s things,” Sebastian said. “And I don’t think Kathryn is going to be cooperative.”

“We don’t need her. I’m sure her house key is with her personal items. I’ll go talk to one of the nurses,” Simon said as he walked away.

“Has anyone called Mom?” Stefan asked.

“I’ll call her now,” Sam said as he pulled his phone from his pocket.

After leaving the hospital, my brothers, cousins, and I lit the bonfire and gathered around it. Aunt Barb showed up and sat in the chair next to mine.
