Andrew looked at the stranger. “What’s your address?”

To his surprise, the guy gave it to him. Andrew repeated it. Most people would demand a stranger and his unconscious friend to get off their property or would have called the cops by now. This guy simply stood there, his dog at his side—well, behind him—as he stared at Andrew.

“I’m on my way,” Eleazar said. “Do not move from that spot.”

“But Chainsaw…” Andrew said. “He might find us.”

“I can help.” The stranger lifted Zach from the ground as if he weighed less than a pillow and carried him inside, his dog following him.

Andrew still had the phone to his ear. “I’m scared, Eleazar.” He looked around and then moved closer to the stranger’s back door. “I thought for sure I was going to die.”

“You will be safe, Andrew.” Eleazar tried to reassure him, but Andrew had been taken from the vampire’s bedroom. How much safer was that? If he couldn’t fall asleep in his mate’s room without having to worry about someone coming in…

“It was Maximus,” Andrew said. “He took me from your room and handed me over to Chainsaw. They’d made a deal. Chainsaw kills me and Maximus protects him from you.”

“There will be no protection,” Eleazar snarled. “For either of them.”

Andrew ducked down when headlights flooded the driveway. Had Chainsaw found him? “Someone’s here,” he whispered into the phone.

“It is me.”

Andrew spun to find Eleazar behind him. He dropped the phone and threw himself into Eleazar’s arms. Safety enveloped him as his mate wrapped his arms around him.

“I’m sorry this happened to you,” Eleazar said softly as he ran his hand down Andrew’s back. “I never thought our bedroom wasn’t safe.”

Our bedroom.

“Just get me out of here,” Andrew said as he finally pulled away. “But we have to get Zach first. The stranger took him inside.”

The guy reappeared. “Name’s Stone.”

“Wolf,” Eleazar said.

Stone nodded. “Eleazar.” He walked outside. “I know where Chainsaw is laying low.”

Good, because Andrew doubted he could find the house. He’d zigzagged his way through yards and down so many streets that he doubted he could recall his steps.

Shayde and two other men entered the yard. Shayde smiled softly at Andrew before he turned his attention to Stone. “Give us the address.”

When Stone gave the address, the two men with Shayde were gone. Just…gone. They’d moved so fast that Andrew hadn’t seen them leave. Shayde leaned down, petting the dog, talking to the animal like it was a child.

Andrew had never seen that side of Shayde. He just always assumed the guy was lurking around, waiting to do Eleazar’s bidding. Andrew reminded himself that Shayde was a person, with real emotions and feelings.

Then Shayde walked inside, returning moments later with Zach curled in his arms. Andrew’s friend still wasn’t awake, and maybe, right now, that was for the best.

“Let’s get you home,” Eleazar said.

“What about Maximus?” Andrew didn’t want to return if the vampire was there. Just the thought of being under the same roof with that guy gave Andrew the shivers.

“He has fled,” Eleazar said between gritted teeth. “I will find him, though. There is nowhere Maximus can hide from me.”

Maximus was a damn coward. “He had some of your coven with him when he handed me over to Chainsaw.”

Eleazar and Shayde exchanged a look, and then Eleazar glanced at Andrew. “Could you identify them?”

“Does a bear shit in the woods?” Andrew asked.

“Indeed,” Eleazar said with a slight smile, a sinister smile that made Andrew wonder what was going through the gorgeous man’s head. Had he found Andrew’s comment funny, or was he thinking of a million different ways he was going to kill Chainsaw and Maximus?
