The vampire’s lips turned down. “So far I haven’t heard anything.”
“I was going nuts sitting in my room,” Andrew said. “I’ve been here almost two weeks, and I’m still not allowed to explore your home.”
“That is what this meeting is about, Andrew. I was speaking to my coven about you.”
Andrew peeked around Eleazar and saw all eyes were on them. From his count, there were roughly ten people in the room, including Shayde and Maximus.
Maximus smirked at him, and Andrew had an urge to flip him off. Everyone in the room was handsome, even Maximus. Downright gorgeous was more like it.
Eleazar brought his hand up, as if he wanted to cup Andrew’s cheek, and then dropped it back to his side. He glanced around the room, as if searching for something. “Come.”
Before Andrew could ask where they were going, Eleazar grabbed his hand and tugged him along. They left the living room and traversed a hallway until they stopped in front of a door.
Eleazar opened it and ushered Andrew inside. Andrew’s eyes widened when he saw the room. It was filled with books, paintings, and a large bed. His gaze flicked to Eleazar and back to the bed.
“How did the meeting go?” Andrew looked around, in awe at how elegant the room was. “Is this your bedroom?”
“It is.” Eleazar held out a hand, indicating a plush chair. Andrew sat. “I thought you would be more comfortable waiting in my room. I still have to finish talking to the coven, but it shouldn’t take long.”
Andrew might have been stuck in another room, but at least it wasn’t his. Now he wanted to snoop around and maybe learn more about the mysterious Eleazar Bancroft. Andrew had been there over a week, and he still knew nothing about the guy. Nothing of importance. “No problem. I’ll wait here.”
Eleazar nodded and started to leave, but he paused before he crossed the threshold. Without looking back, he murmured, “Thank you for coming into my life, Andrew.” Before Andrew could blink, Eleazar was gone.
Andrew stared at the closed door, wondering what Eleazar meant by his words. Was he thanking him for being his servant, or did he mean something else? Andrew wanted to think it was something else, and he sighed before giving in to his curiosity.
Eleazar’s room was a lot like him, mysterious and a bit intimidating. The bed was huge, with heavy curtains drawn around it. The furniture was large and lavish, and Andrew’s eyes kept being drawn to the large bookcase on the wall.
He couldn’t help but feel like he was snooping around Eleazar’s personal things, but he pushed the thought away and started to look around anyway.
Andrew wasn’t sure what he was looking for, but he wanted to know more about the man he was so attracted to. Eleazar seemed so complex, yet Andrew could find no trace of his past or the things he liked.
Finally, in the back of the drawer in one of the side tables, he found a black leather-bound book. Andrew’s eyes widened when he flipped through the pages and saw the beautiful drawings on each page. It was a sketchbook, filled with intricate drawings of buildings, landscapes, and animals. They were all in black and white, but the details were incredible.
There were even a few sketches of people, including one of Felix. The details were extraordinary. The sketch almost looked life-like.
Andrew smiled, feeling a connection to Eleazar. For the first time since he had arrived at the mansion, he felt like he was getting to know the person behind the vampire. He had a feeling that he was starting to understand Eleazar, and he found himself strangely relieved.
Putting the book back where he’d found it, Andrew gazed back at the bed.
Fuck it.
Andrew dropped onto the bed, noting how plush and comfortable it was. He ran his hands along the silk sheets and burrowed deeper into the covers, inhaling Eleazar’s masculine scent. He felt like he was taken back to another time. He stretched on the bed as he waited for Eleazar, and he eventually drifted off to sleep.
Chapter Six
Eleazar stood at the side of his bed and gazed down at Andrew’s sleeping form. He could hear the human’s soft breathing and see his chest rise and fall with each inhale and exhale. Eleazar had to admit that he found Andrew’s sleeping form quite attractive. There was something about the way he looked so peaceful and serene that made Eleazar want to lean down and kiss him awake.
He had not expected to feel such an intense attraction to his human servant, but there was something about Andrew that drew him in like a moth to a flame. Eleazar was not sure if it was just his vampire instincts or something more, but he found himself wanting to protect and possess the human.
He leaned down and brushed a strand of Andrew’s hair away from his forehead, taking in the peaceful expression on his face. Eleazar had always been a solitary creature, not wanting to get too attached to humans, but he found himself unable to resist Andrew’s charms.
For a moment, Eleazar considered waking Andrew up and taking him right then and there. He could sense the blood pulsing through Andrew’s veins, and the urge to feed was almost overpowering. But he restrained himself, knowing that he could not risk feeding from his servant.
It wasn’t forbidden, just a practice by all coven leaders.
Instead, Eleazar contented himself with watching Andrew sleep. He knew that he would have to tread carefully from now on and try to maintain his composure in front of the human. But he also knew that he would stop at nothing to keep Andrew by his side, no matter what the cost.
Now he was thinking of nothing but the kisses they had shared, and Eleazar wanted more.
