This day has been grueling. Whoever stole Tony’s money knew how to cover their tracks. There’s no way it was one woman, Penelope Fournier. I’ve stared at IP addresses and crawled around the dark web more than I can handle in the last few days. I’m not one to worry, but the likelihood we’ll find the piece of evidence conclusively linking Penelope to the crime is growing slim.

I think back to the driver’s license photo of the haggard looking Penelope Fournier. Who is this poor woman our client is pursuing? Thank goodness it’s not our Penny. The name similarity had been uncanny when Zac told us his sister was starting a bed and breakfast but we quickly ruled out them being the same person.

Miss Fournier’s maiden name didn’t match Zac’s last name, she lived in a different city, and our Penny sure didn’t look like the woman in the license photo.

If anything, I’m more and more convinced that Penny Fournier’s ex is involved, which seems like a no-brainer since he disappeared. It’s the few pieces of information on him, linking him loosely to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, that create extra confusion. Is he a government agent? That would make this a much bigger case than we signed up for.

I’d hate to help convict an innocent woman especially since a lot of these cryptocurrency cases don’t result in the money being returned. It’s good to put criminals behind bars but pretty hard when everything’s digital. Tony’s definitely all in on his effort.

A knock on the door startles us. Penny will be a sight for sore eyes. I can’t wait to make love to her again, and I can’t stop myself from thinking of it as that even though what we did was carnal. But I feel her in more places than just my cock. I feel her in my heart.

A fact I don’t dare bring up to Kyle.

I head to the door and my body’s thankful that I got up to stretch. It’s been a few hours since I stood. With any luck, Penny won’t point out that the mattresses are dry. I don’t simply want time with her, I want to sleep against her body again tonight.

I open the door and my cock stands on high alert. She’s wearing the fucking apron and nothing else.

“I thought maybe you’d need something to eat,” she says, extending her hands to the sides.

I’d been able to taste her in the morning, even after we’d slept all night, but it had faded through the day. I pull her close, my hands grabbing her bare ass, and I about lose my mind.

“I’m pretty hungry,” Kyle says from his desk. Obviously, he hasn’t looked away from his screen yet.

Penny laughs, drawing his attention. He stumbles out of his chair and is next to us in a heartbeat.

She ducks her head as if our forwardness might be embarrassing her but she’s the one standing here in nothing but a frilly apron.

“Looks like we get dessert before dinner tonight, Kyle.” I angle her chin up and plant my lips on hers.

Kyle moves closer and when Penny shifts her lips to his, I trail kisses down her neck and move my arm from between her and Kyle, scooting her apron to the side so I can play with her beaded nipple.

After a few minutes of alternating between us, she leans back. “Have you boys been cooped up in here all day? Doing nothing but staring at your computers?”

“We came across some dead ends,” Kyle says.

Shit. He’s close enough, I can tell that his body tightens at his misstep.

I cover for his statement. “Yeah, projects we had hoped for that aren’t going to pan out.”

“Well, I had a rough day too. How about we blow off some steam?” She turns away and as she steps to the right, I tug her hand back.

“As a matter of fact, we didn’t stare at our computers all day.” I lead her into the other room and watch as her face lights up.

Kyle says, “Lance convinced me to take a break for the lunch you left, which was delicious, and we made a quick trip to the store for materials to patch the ceiling.”

Penny’s loosened Kyle up more than I’ve ever seen him. This could be really good for him.

“You shouldn’t have done that.”

“We did it for you. Last night was incredible,” he says.

“That’s a unanimous assessment.” She clasps her hands together and holds them in front of her mouth.

“This is our gift to you for being so amazing.” I rub my thumb over her hand.

“If only everybody thought that,” she mumbles. Her smile is gone and her shoulders slump. I’m about to ask what’s up when the moment passes.

She says, cheerily, “I think we need to eat some dinner so we have energy for tonight. You guys game?”
