As my hands returned to her shoulders, Charlotte leaned back into my chest once more, and I wrapped my arms around her body. Pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek, I nuzzled in slightly and smiled.
“Well, I for one am happy you are embracing the change.”
“Thank you. Do you guys do this a lot?”
“What do you mean?”
“You and Matt and Samuel... do you always play with the same girl?”
“Not at all.” I nuzzled into her wet curls. “In fact, this is the first time.”
Charlotte sat up abruptly. “Really?”
“Really.”
“Why?”
“I can’t speak for the others, but sometimes, things just click. I’ve known them for years, and they had my back through thick and thin, so if they can appreciate your beauty and help me bring you to multiple orgasms, well...” I trailed off and kissed the back of her shoulder. “No complaints.”
“Wow...” Charlotte breathed out, and her water-warmed skin flooded with goosebumps under my lips. “How long have you known each other?”
“Since I started at Brown. My house is out of the city, and the commute was killing me. Samuel caught me sleeping in my office one night and let me crash here. I’ve stayed here during term time ever since. Matt met Samuel when they were in school, and I met him through Samuel. Best friends a guy could ask for.”
“You’re all close?”
“Close enough to fuck the same chick,” I teased, and Charlotte laughed. “But yes. They had my back during the alcoholism investigation, provided character statements, and fought for me. I can’t ever repay them.”
“And that was Paul, accusing you of being drunk at work?”
“Stone cold,” I confirmed. “He found some alcohol in my desk. Stupid on my part, but he tried to blackmail me for better grades. I told him where to stick it, and he took that badly.”
“Goodness.” Charlotte swiveled around and pressed a light kiss to the corner of my mouth, all she could reach from that angle. “I’m glad you had good people around you.”
“Me too.”
Silence fell, and we settled together, soaking up the warmth for a few long moments until Charlotte tensed briefly.
“Did I hear you talking about some sort of... threat?”
“Nothing you need to be concerned about,” I replied. “Just some stupid note.”
“What was it?”
“I came into my office earlier today, and someone had left a dumb letter about how my days at Brown were numbered if I didn’t know what was good for me. Theyknew what I had been up to, apparently.” I scoffed lightly. “Shit like that doesn’t bother me.”
“What do you think it means?” Charlotte turned in my arms and fixed me with a worried gaze. I immediately cupped her cheek and ran my thumb along the rosy-red apple swell.
“Nothing,” I reassured her. “Likely, that dick Paul trying to get a rise out of me for the drinking stuff. Honestly, it doesn’t concern me.”
“Hmm. Okay.” She nodded once and turned into my palm, her eyes closing. “You know he dates my best friend?”
“I’m aware.” My lips twisted faintly. “You have an odd taste in friends.”
“It’s limited, for sure.” Charlotte chuckled. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Not overlooking me.”
