Seema turned to leave, stopped then hurried back to give me a proper kiss. When I moaned, she pulled away and gently tapped my cheek.
Sparing Audrey one final look, she disappeared out the door.
I knew what she’d done, and I couldn’t help feeling sexy as hell.
Though I didn’t want to show Audrey anymore kindness than saving her life, Myra cooked while Seema and Wolf set up the table for all of us.
“Can you take some food out for the others?” Seema asked. “Leave an extra little portion of the fish for Dillon—it’s his favourite.”
Audrey rolled her eyes.
But I couldn’t hide the pride I felt for Seema then.
All of us sat down to eat.
Audrey pushed her food around on her plate—I supposed she was feeling some kind of way because when she’d tried sitting beside me, Seema pushed her out of the way and took the seat on my left, while Myra occupied the seat on my right.
The rest of us talked about nothing topics and when the food was gone, Seema helped Myra clean up.
Not long after, Carter and the boys all but burst into the house.
Dillon looked around the room—he looked by me, Audrey and everyone else until he saw Seema.
My teenager rushed to her, hugged her tightly then stepped back to look into her face.
“Are you okay?” He asked. “Are you hurt?”
Seema grinned brightly at him, framed his cheeks and shook his head from side to side.
“I’m a wasp.” She told him. “They’d have to catch me first.”
“I’m serious.” Dillon lifted his face from her palms only to hug her again. “You scared me.”
“I’m fine.” Seema assured him.
Seema stepped away to do a little bit of a runway twirl for him. Dillon broke down and laughed at that before hugging her again.
He then checked on me then turned to eye his mother.
“You caused this.” He accused.
“Dillon.” I warned.
“Myra and I are going to leave you guys to talk.” Wolf wrapped an arm around his wife’s hips. “We won’t be far in case you need backup.”
“He just wants to make out with me in the car.” Myra giggled.
“She’s not wrong.” Wolf admitted.
After they left, Charlie excused himself to go with Eli, leaving me with Audrey, Seema and Dillon.
The heat left the space and I suddenly wanted to be anywhere but there. The anger in Dillon’s eyes tore at me, and I didn’t want to handle it.
But I was his father.
“Dillon, you don’t have to do this.” Seema took Dillon aside.
“Get away from my son!” Audrey lashed out.
