The driver accepted my hand to help me out then did the same for Levi, informed us to let the host know when we were ready to go home and he would arrive to pick us up again.
Thanking him, Levi, in full drag, looped his arm with mine and we made our way to the front doors.
Someone opened the door for us and when I gave my name to the hostess, she asked us to wait.
Soon, a beautiful woman approached us—her hair was tied up in a very cute and intricate and the Chinse dress she wore hugged her curves as though it was painted on.
She smiled, offered us a bow and when our eyes met, she arched a perfectly sculpted brow at me.
“My name is Mae Lin Chu.” She introduced herself. “I am the owner ofDebutant.I was told you are our honoured guests.”
“I wouldn’t say honoured.” I told her, laughing nervously.
“Nonsense.” She batted a wrist that held more money in that one bracelet than I’d probably make all my life. “Any friends of Carter’s are friends of mine. This way.”
She led us through the most gorgeous interior, passed elegant tables and luxuriously dressed patrons, how shining wood steps and in through a set of ornate doors that looked as though they were shipped directly from China.
“Here you are.” She motioned to the table.
“Thank you.” Levi offered.
“Um—I don’t want to be rude.” Mae Lin lowered her voice as she leant toward Levi. “But are you Soli Darity, by any chance?”
Levi glanced over at me, then back at her.
“That’s me.” Levi replied.
Mae Lin squealed happily. “I love you! Especially your Viva Las Vegas number!”
“Thanks!” Levi giggled hugging her.
“Don’t worry about anything.” Mae Lin told him. “Your money is no good here. Ever!”
After Mae Lin left us, Levi was floating on air, and I couldn’t be happier for him.
Though I was still thinking about Carter’s offer, I didn’t bring it up to Levi. I wanted him to enjoy this moment of the most delicious food I’d ever tasted, the ambiance and the amazing feeling of having such a woman be a fan of his.
But this couldn’t last forever and the next morning while Levi slept, I kissed the side of his head, dressed and left my place on my motorcycle, heading toward the core of the city.
Since I was on my cycle, I could dip through side streets and the like to avoid the traffic without any issues.
When I pulled up to Carter’s building, I couldn’t help feeling out of place.
It was all glass, tall, stretching heavenward and I didn’t like it.
I’d never been a fan of heights.
Going up a regular elevator was one thing, but seeing the distance I was reaching away from the ground through glass walls—why was that even a damn thing?
Pushing some air out my mouth, I eased the cycle toward the underground parking, waited for the ticket and rolled down into the space. I found a spot, put the cycle in and stuck the tag int the front above the belly before jogging across the lot to the elevator.
The receptionist area of his building was beautiful and the woman who greeted me was entirely too pretty to be real.
It took everything in me not to reach forward and poke her cheek.
But the moment she called Carter, he was out to meet with me.
She was stunned—I could tell by the way she arched her brow and tilted his head.
