The server comes over and offers us menus. I take mine and scan it, then nod at Kat. “You can take her order first. I need a minute.”
“Very good.”
After we order, I sip on the glass of red wine that I stole right out of his hands.
“I don’t need a minute. I just want a three-egg omelet with sausage in it and about five eggs.”
“Fine. Let’s get you all warmed up.” Before I even speak, Hank looks at me.
“Okay. What is it that you want from me”
“All of it. Every last damn thing that was supposed to be mine all those years ago. I want it all.”
“What does that even mean?”
“You. Want the chance to have you like I should have all those years ago.”
“Say what?” Her brows lift and her mouth falls open. “There’s no way that I’m going to make love to you.”
“Who said anything about love. I just want to have sex with you.”
“No way.”
“Think about it, Kat. There’s no better way to scratch this itch that’s grinding on us. Just have sex with me and then we’ll be able to go on with our lives and not concern ourselves with the weird way we still feel because we haven’t had closure.”
“No.”
I sigh. “Give it a chance. Just think about it. Let me know your answer later.”
She tries to open her mouth and say something but I hold up my hand. “Later.”
“Fine,” she huffs.
We have a quiet meal, no talking but a lot of subtle staring and then we’re done and we go to leave. As soon as my hand touches her soft skin, she groans and I stare at her glowing eyes, enthralled.
“Fine. I’ll do it. Tonight. But only once. Then hopefully we don’t have this problem anymore.”
“I don’t consider it a problem.”
“You’re deluded then.”
I chuckle and hold out my hand. “Let’s go, baby.”
“I’m not your baby.”
“Put your spikes down, Kat. I’m not going to hurt you.”
“I’m not sure you’re going to help me, either,” I mutter under my breath.
She follows me out and we drive to my place. Her eyes widen and she stares. It’s a sprawling little place with a wide front porch and flowers scattered all through the front.
“This is beautiful.”
“Thank you. But it doesn’t hold a candle to you.”
She rolls her eyes and follows me inside. The door closes and I slam her into the door. My hands catch her arms and lift them over her head. My nose and lips skim over my throat and I growl. “I’ve finally got you right where I want you.”
I slip her hands inside of one of mine and then my other hand skates down my side. My breath stops. Then puffs out so quickly that I feel lightheaded.
