"Nothing. I'm just in bed, waiting for you guys."
"Don't wait. Just come join us. I miss you," Logan said.
"Join you, where?" I asked, raising a brow.
"I will send you the address. Don't make me wait too long."
"I'll try," I replied, and the line went dead.
I got out of bed, took a long bath, and changed into a nice dress and a pair of pumps. I brushed my hair and decided to wear it down. I dropped my phone in my purse and threw it over my shoulder before leaving the room.
I took a car service that Logan had called for me, just outside the hotel, and about thirty minutes later, the car came to a stop outside a massive restaurant.
I stood outside the restaurant for a minute. Glancing at the restaurant's exterior, I noticed that it appeared empty through the large glass windows. Doubts briefly crossed my mind, and I swiftly pulled out my phone to confirm that I had indeed arrived at the correct place before proceeding into the restaurant.
I called Logan, pressing the phone to my ear. "Hey, I'm here," I said the second he answered.
"Walk in then."
"It looks empty."
"Does it?" His voice was playful. "Come in," he insisted, and I entered the restaurant with the phone still pressed to my ear. The restaurant was indeed empty as I walked in. "There's no one…" that was as far as I got when I spotted Logan.
He hung up, walking to me. "Hey, you. Do you want to have dinner with me?" he quizzed.
"I didn't get all decked up not to. Right?" I said, reaching for his tie and realizing he wasn't wearing a suit when he left this morning. I held his tie, adjusting it as I muttered. "Nice suit."
"Nice dress," he responded, pressing his mouth to my ear. His breath grazed my ear, and I could feel the pressure between my legs as he said, "I can't wait to take it off you tonight."
"Neither can I," I whispered.
Logan took my hand and led me to the corner of the restaurant where our table and daughter were. "Hey, sweetie," I sat beside her, across from Logan. "I hope you had a great day with your Dad." Still felt so weird saying it like that.
Cassie's eyes darted to Logan briefly, and she smiled. "It was a nice day!"
"Well, I'm glad to hear that."
"Champagne?" Logan offered, lifting the bottle and filling my glass.
I grinned. "Hmm…What's the occasion?" I asked. I had a feeling something was going on, but I couldn't exactly place it. It looked like a father-and-daughter secret, and I appreciated their closeness. Over the last few weeks, the last six years Logan missed seemed to have slowly faded. It was hard to tell that they had only known each other for a week.
"Can I have some too?" she asked, holding her glass to me.
"You wish," Logan commented, grabbing the juice on the table and filling her glass with juice.
Cassie groaned.
Logan and I laughed, drinking to that. We ate silently, slow music echoing in the background and setting quite a mood. After dinner, Logan got to his feet and moved to my seat. "Dance with me," he said, and I took his hand, getting to my feet.
Logan held my waist, and I wrapped my arms behind his head, moving to the rhythm of the music and staring in his eyes—falling into his gaze. "Are you enjoying your night?" Logan asked.
"I love it," I repeated, my body tensing at his touch.
He smiled. "I love you."
My feet stopped, and so did my heart. I always wanted to believe that I meant a lot to him and that he loved me -but Logan had never once said it, so you can imagine my surprise and joy. I was speechless, my stomach folding. Logan slid his hand off my waist, and took a step back.
"Harper, once upon a time, I made the mistake of walking away from you, and not being honest about my feelings. I know I'm not the easiest, and sometimes I can be a mean jerk -or worse. But I love you, I always have, and I will always choose you.. now and forever. Will you allow me to make up for all of the lost time that we missed as a family?"
Cassie came up to us and handed Logan a small ring box which he carefully opened, revealing a diamond ring that took my breath away. I gasped.
Logan got down on one knee, and my heart left my chest. It felt too surreal. I couldn't believe this was happening.
"Harper, will you do me the biggest honor of marrying me? Will you make me the happiest man in the world??” Tears were rolling down my cheeks—tears of joy. My eyes darted to Cassie. She was grinning like crazy as she watched us.
"Sooooo? Will you marry me?" Logan asked, and I turned to him.
I took a long deep breath, wiping the tears off my cheeks. "Yes Logan, I will!”
The End.
