“I can do that,” she said. “I know you want this as a secret, but Rose is the one that orders diamonds of that value. I can’t do it without at least one of the sisters signing off.”

“As long as it’s not Poppy, I’m not too worried.”

She laughed. “Yeah, Poppy can’t keep it a secret. When do you need this by?”

“Can you get it done by November sixteenth? I’ve got a date in mind to give it to her.”

“I’ll make it a priority,” she said. She’d work on it at home if she had to since it was less than two weeks away. The bigger issue was coming up with a design and then creating the mold and getting it perfect and assuring the diamond was secure enough in place.

She’d have to reach out to Rose and hated to bother her, but Rose would understand and help her so that it was exactly as she wanted it.

“Thanks,” he said.

He left a few minutes later. She hadn’t even taken her jacket off in her excitement and did that now.

“I just saw Luke leaving,” Lily said from her open doorway. “Is everything okay?”

“It’s going to be,” she said, jumping up and down. “I’m so glad you’re the first one here. No one else is, right?”

“No,” Lily said, shutting the door. “What’s going on?”

“Luke asked me to design and make Heather’s engagement ring. He won’t care you know and I told him one of you girls has to order the diamond. I’m not authorized to make a purchase like that.”

“That’s wonderful,” Lily said. “I’m so happy for Luke. Zane is going to be over the moon.”

Zane and Luke were best friends and that meant Zane had no clue. “You didn’t know this was going to happen?” she asked, cringing.

“No,” Lily said. “If Luke told Zane he wouldn’t have told me if he was asked not to. I won’t say anything to Zane. I’ll let Luke do that if he wants to. What does he want you to make?”

She explained it to Lily. “I need this to be just perfect. I’m going to try to think of designs while I’m working today. I’ll draw up a few tonight. I know I shouldn’t bug Rose while she is out.”

“Bug her for this,” Lily said. “She’ll be ticked off if you don’t tell her. And she can help you with the diamond. That’s her thing. I’ll place the order so that no one knows other than the three of us. Unless Rose wants to do it. She might and have it shipped to her at her house to make sure no one sees it here.”

“Good idea,” she said. “I worry that Ivy might find out.”

They both laughed. “I love that girl,” Lily said. “But she might be worse than Poppy when it comes to secrets.”

“I know,” she said.

“How are things going with you and Theo?” Lily asked.

Everyone knew now. “They are great,” she said. “It was really hard to keep it quiet and I’m not sure why I was for so long.”

“Sure, you are,” Lily said.

“Yeah. There is this part of me deep down that thinks I’m not worthy of him. Maybe of any man since I don’t know that I’ve ever had a great relationship with one. I’ve never witnessed one until I moved here and saw all of you with your spouses.”

“Don’t let your past drag you down,” Lily said. “The right person isn’t going to hold your past against you. You can see it with me and my sisters. With Heather and Luke.”

“Heather’s past is fine, but it’s Luke’s in their situation. Not that Heather would care about those things.”

She knew Luke’s father was in prison, his mother an addict on the streets. She was assuming he might have spent some time in the system too, but Heather never said much more than those two things and that was recent.

You’d never know it looking at the guy who put the law first now.

“That’s right,” Lily said. “It sounds like Theo doesn’t care about where you come from or who your parents are. He only cares about you. And if he was someone that didn’t, then you wouldn’t give him the time of day and you know it.”

“You’re right,” she told Lily. “I’m not sure why I never thought of it that way before.”
