He winked at her. He got what she was saying.

Be Her First
Afew days later, Daisy pulled into Blossoms’ parking lot at seven thirty. It was a bit earlier than she normally came in but not by much.
Luke had texted her last night when she was in bed and asked if they could meet when he got out of work. She said sure and wondered what this could be about.
In her romantic mind, she had an idea and the excitement of that was overriding the fear of her roommate moving out.
She was just unlocking the back door when Luke pulled in next to her car, so she waited and held the door for him. He was still in uniform. Guess he didn’t change when he left work and she wasn’t sure why she thought he might.
“Look at you all sexy,” she said, grinning. She knew he’d laugh at her.
“Your roomie seems to think so,” Luke said.
“You’re so good for her,” she said, dragging the words out.
“Yeah,” Luke said. “She’s great for me too. Which is why I’m here.”
“Can I guess?” she asked almost hopping out of her skin. Though if she was wrong then he might feel bad.
“Sure,” Luke said, grinning.
“You want me to make her a piece of jewelry?” she asked.
“That is pretty much a given,” he said. “I need your help. I want it from you and not Rose.”
Her jaw dropped. An engagement ring. It’d be the only thing he’d go to Rose for over her, she was positive and had expected that when the time came.
She’d never made an engagement ring before. This would be her first. And for her best friend.
Oh my God. It was going to be a dream come true.
And a secret that she’d have to keep too.
She hoped to hell he wasn’t going to wait too long to give to Heather.
“Is it what I think it is?” she asked almost screeching,
“I’m pretty sure we are on the same page. I need some diamond prices and somehow a design that goes with her name. I don’t even know if that is possible, but I saw what you did with her necklace that she wears. The heather design and a daisy in the center.”
“Yes!” she said doing a fist pump. “One of my favorite pieces.” She’d shown it to Rose and said she’d love to be able to do combinations of flowers at some point. Rose loved the idea, but that necklace had been a one of a kind. Just like this ring was going to be too.
“I guess the next question is diamonds. Quality, sizes, costs. Those things I know nothing about.”
“I can do that for you,” she said. “How big of a diamond do you want to go? Just one, smaller ones? Give me an idea so that I can design the ring.”
“You know her well. She’s not fancy or flashy. But I want to do something more than a classic solitaire.”
Her head went back and forth. “I’m thinking of a thicker band with a design in it. A heather stem before it blooms like on the necklaces but flat. No reason to have it catching on things. Almost like a design imprinted onto the band.” She pulled out her laptop and searched for pictures of pieces she’d made before. “Like this. See how thick it is, but not massive either.”
“I like that,” Luke said. “Would it be like the green leaf on the band and then the heather bloom as the diamond?”
“We can try that, but the full bloom is long and would stand up too much in my opinion and I’d want to make it look as real as possible.”
“I’ll let you do the work,” Luke said. “Let’s go with one carat and then if you think it needs more stones on the design let me know.”
