I shake my head. “It was someone called Jack? I didn’t get a surname, but his family owns a hotel downtown, so I think maybe it was a bigger agency.”

“Jack?” Roisin frowns. “Did he say who he represented?”

“Nope, sorry.”

“Leave a card or anything?”

I dig out the napkin from my bag and show it to her. “I have his number?”

“Aimee!” Roisin practically squeals. “You slept with my future agent?”

“I didn’t mean to! He was just… very persuasive.”

Roisin grins at me wildly and grabs onto my hand. “You need to tell me everything. Now.”

By the time I finish the full story, Roisin’s jaw is on the floor, and we’ve migrated to the couch.

“Wow.”

“I know.”

“I’m so proud of you.”

I give her an incredulous look. “For hooking up with a bazillionaire?”

“For getting yourself out there! Doing something spontaneous for once,” she replies earnestly.

She’s right, of course; it’s been a long time since I’ve actually been able to let loose like that. There’s just something about Jack that made me lose my inhibitions and take that chance.

“Do you think you’ll see him again?” Roisin presses excitedly.

Don’t worry, Aimee. We’ll see each other again.

At the moment, I didn't doubt it for a second, but the moment he left…. “I think you’ll see him first; he said he was going to the show again tonight.”

Roisin deflates. “Ah… yeah, about that.”

“What?” My attention snaps to her immediately.

“Well… last night got a bit wild for me too….”

Shit.“Roisin—”

“I promise I didn’t do anything, okay? Just alcohol,” she insists.

I give her a look

“Okay, maybe a bit too much alcohol,” she concedes. “But it was a party, and there’s just this whole drinking culture after a big show and–”

“It’s okay, Roshe, I trust you,” I say before she can work herself up too much. “I just want you to be safe.”

She sighs. “I know. I am.”

“So what happened?”

Roisin readjusts her sitting position before she launches in. “The director got into a fight with the lead actor over something super stupid. Apparently, his vision wasn’t to make the show a musical at all, but the casting director had hired a professional singer for the lead, so it had been like a waste not to use him, you know?”

I shake my head. “Sure.”
