Page 43 of Lexi Lets Go

Lexi chuckled and opened her contacts to call Josh. She needed to tell her brother she was leaving town. If he came here looking for her and couldn't find her, he would spiral.

He picked up on the second ring.

"Lexi?" He always sounded slightly panicked when he wasn't expecting her to call.

"Hey Josh, I just wanted to tell you I am going to the city for the next couple nights."

There was a pause.

"Josh..."

"You’re going to New York? With Liam?"

"Yeah. I’m going to go to his concert on Monday then I’ll be home on Tuesday.”

"What is going on with you two?" he asked with barely veiled suspicion.

"What do you mean? I was just showing him around town for his video and then he offered to take me to his concert as a thank you."

Another pause.

"What?" Lexi asked, losing her patience.

"I don't know, you were just different around him. And the way he was looking at you..."

"Josh, he is a superstar. He can make anyone feel like that. It's part of being adored by millions."

"Poppy told me to have you ask him if he knows Bridget," said Josh.

"Bridget who?"

"Bridget... I don't actually know her last name. But the woman who owns the magic shop in town."

"Why on earth would I do that? And how would he possibly know her?"

"I asked Poppy the same thing, but she just told me to trust her... and that woman's intuition is on point almost all the time.”

"Okay, I'll ask him. Anyway, I’m leaving shortly and just wanted to tell you so you wouldn't worry. I’ll call you when I get home."

"Sounds good. Have a safe trip, love you."

"Love you too." She hung up and started to pack. What she had to wear that was concert appropriate she didn't know, but she was off to see.

She opened her closet door and looked at her small assortment of clothes. There was one outfit she could wear, so she pulled that out and then dug into the back of her closet for her bag. She really had to dig. It had been a long time since she had needed her overnight bag, but that wasn't a surprise.

After she packed, she noticed there were dishes in the kitchen sink. Those would need to be done before she could leave. And honestly it would give her something to do. Otherwise, she would second guess things again.

As she was finishing up the dishes there was a knock at her door. She dried her hands and went to open it. Even knowing who it was didn’t stop the butterflies in her stomach from fluttering around when she opened the door to a smiling Liam James.

“Hey gorgeous, Are you ready?”

“Just about, I just have to finish up the last couple dishes,” she said, heading back into the kitchen.

“Can I help?”

“I’m basically done, but would you mind heading upstairs to get my bag?”

“Of course.” As he walked through the kitchen, he stopped and put his hand on the small of her back and gave her a little kiss. That small contact pulled at her heart.
