Page 36 of Lexi Lets Go

The rest of the night was just them around the table catching up. Lexi and Josh talked about the inn. There was small town gossip and talk of upcoming events. Lots of razzing in fun. He looked over at Lexi who was looking back. Something about this perfect night under the fairy lights tugged at his heart. If he were to ever give it all up, it would be for something like this.

As they were walking to the car with more leftovers than they could eat, he did finally take Lexi by the hand. He had been itching to touch her all night.

"I hope that wasn't too lame," she said with that uncertainty in her voice.

"That? That was amazing! I had so much fun. You have really great family and friends."

"Yeah, they're pretty great."

They got in her car, and he couldn't help himself. He leaned over and kissed her. He held her face between his hands and slowly and tenderly kissed her. He pulled back and the glazed-over look on her face made him smile.

"What was that for?" she asked breathlessly.

"Just because I can."

"Where to now?"

"Can we go back to the inn? I’ll sneak you in. No one will know it's you, but I have some plans for you tonight."

"I've never stayed in the suite before."

"Then let's go."

She shook her head and huffed out a sigh. "Let's go.”

His heart skipped a beat. He did have plans for her tonight. He couldn't wait.

Chapter14

Lexi

They pulled up to the inn and Lexi parked towards the back of the lot, hoping her employees wouldn't see her car. She couldn't believe that she had let him talk her into this. They should have gone back to her house, but this was what he wanted to do, and she wanted to make him happy. They only had these few days together.

Liam had fit in so well with everyone. That made her long to have more than a weekend with him, but he had been up front. And she knew she wasn't really ready for anything serious. She wasn’t sure if she ever would be. She knew she didn't want children and that seemed to be a deal breaker for lots of people. But that wasn't something she needed to worry about with Liam. This was just a weekend, a weekend that would get her through the rest of her life, the weekend she went to bed with a rock star. And honestly, that was better than anything she had previously imagined.

"Are you ready? I have experience sneaking in and out of places. Do you have any sunglasses? Oversized hat? trench coat?"

She quirked her brow. "Are you serious?"

"No, but I’m going to go with it. Why don't you go to the side door, and I’ll let you in, that way you aren't going by the front desk."

"That works. It feels like high school, sneaking boys in."

"Did you sneak many boys into your room in high school?" he asked.

"Not a one," she said with a smile.

"Alright let's do this, gorgeous," he said, and he dropped a sweet kiss on her mouth. Her heart ached. This is only one weekend she reminded herself as she headed around to the side door. Watching him walk in did something to her. She still couldn't quite believe she was spending a weekend with this man. Whether he was Liam James or Liam Sheffield, she didn't care. She wanted to know more about him. She wanted to know everything about him.

Standing next to the door, she spotted him coming. He opened it quietly and took her hand and pulled her inside. She pushed down the emotion that smile evoked but held onto the lust, because as unlikely as it was, this star in front of her wanted her.

After unlocking the door, he turned to face her, his back against the door. Then turned the doorknob behind his back and pushed the door open. He turned on the light and she gasped when she saw rose petals trailing down the floor leading a path to the bed.

"What's this?" she asked.

"I wanted to spoil you for the next couple of days. I hope you cleared your calendar because you’re about to get the royal treatment."

"You didn't have to go to all this trouble," she said.
