"Maybe a little... but it was so hot. I was so turned on watching you perform. I was hoping something would happen, but that was beyond anything I could have imagined."
"Good. There is a high that exists on stage. When I saw you a couple times during the show, this was all I could think about."
"Well, I’ll have to see more of your concerts. We’ve had good sex, but I think we leveled up there."
He pressed another kiss to her sweaty temple. "You're good for my ego, you know that."
There was a firm knock at the door. "Liam, the execs are here to talk to you."
He buried his face in Lexi's still naked and sweaty shoulder. "Fuck" he groaned. He lifted his head and called over the back of the couch, "I told you I wasn’t meeting with them today."
"You told me you were meeting with them this morning. Why is the door locked?" She asked as she jiggled the handle.
"For privacy. Fuck Jacinda, I’m done for the day. I’m not meeting with them tonight or tomorrow. They can all fuck right off for all I care."
"They’re not going to be happy," she warned.
"I don't really care. Is the car ready? I want to go home," he said.
"Why are we having this conversation through a door?" She jiggled the handle again.
"That's a very good question, Jacinda, as far as I'm concerned this conversation is over. We’ll be out for the car as soon as I'm changed."
"What do you want me to tell them?" she asked indignantly.
"Tell them whatever the fuck you want. This conversation is over."
He got up off the couch and went into the bathroom. She heard the shower turn on. Lexi was left there, unsure of what to do. She had just had the most transcending sexual experience of her life, and now she was cold and alone on a random couch.
"Liam.... Liam... Fuck!" Footsteps stomped away from the door.
Lexi got up off the couch. She wobbled a bit but steadied herself on the arm, then gathered her clothes.
After some time passed, she was dressed just waiting on the couch. For what? She didn't know. Things felt off, and she wasn't sure why. She pulled her phone from her purse and checked the time. It was right after midnight. She only had a little while left with Liam and this is not how she wanted to end things. There was a message from her brother.
Josh- I hope you are enjoying your weekend in the city with your rock star.
She just tucked her phone back into her purse and waited for Liam.
Chapter23
Liam
The warm water streamed down over Liam's body as he soaped his hair. What the fuck just happened? He'd had the most mind-blowing sex with a woman he was almost certain he was in love with, only to be interrupted by Jacinda. And what the hell was up with her? She had never been this pushy before. He took a deep breath as he rinsed his hair, trying to get his temper under control.
He realized he left Lexi out there, alone on the couch. At least he hoped she was still there. This was not how he wanted this to happen.
Tomorrow, when Lexi was in a car headed back to Mystic Falls, he was firing Jacinda. Then he didn't know what was next, but he knew he needed to take back control. Spending some more time with Lexi in Mystic Falls was just what he wanted, if she still wanted him after everything. But if the sex they just had was any hint, then she still seemed to be fully on board.
He got out of the shower and pulled on some clothes, then headed out. His heart almost stopped when he saw her sitting there. She looked like she was one step from bolting out of the door. In that instant he knew he couldn't be without her. If their week together had taught him anything it was how much he needed her in his life.
"Are you okay?" he asked gently as he sat down beside by her.
When she looked over at him a soft smile found her face and he started to relax a bit.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I wasn't sure what to do, if I should stay or go." The uncertain look in her eyes broke his heart. She should know that she belonged by his side. It was his fault she didn’t. He took her face in his hands and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. She sighed and relaxed a little more.
"Of course, you should have stayed. You belong with me, wherever I am. If that’s still where you want to be.” He gazed at her like she was something precious, her face still in his hands.
