I’ve never felt so alive, so full of emotions that it makes me want to fall to my knees and cry, overwhelmed by the beauty being shared between us.

Khalid kisses my neck as the magic dissipates, the air losing its blue sheen. I hold him close, tears pooling in my eyes over just how beautiful magic can be.

I feel like I’ve just watched nature itself blossom back into life after being bombed with radiation.

As the door shuts, Maddox and Varius leaving us to be alone, I thread my fingers through Khalid’s hair.

“I can feel your love for me,” I rasp, trembling against his chest. Such intensity pours through me, wrapping me in a comfort that’s all consuming.

His lips meet mine, wet from tears as he kisses me. “I can feel yours too, kira. I can feel it all...”

We cling to each other, happiness pouring down our cheeks as we pepper each other with kisses.

Our blood bond is complete.

We’re tied together forever.

And whatever happens with Antonio or his brother – we will face it all side by side.

He is mykira.

And I am his.

Epilogue

HIM

She’s sitting with Mother and Maddox beside the pool, laughing that half-snort, half-giggle she’s gotten used to not hiding. Her hand still cups her mouth, and her cheeks still blush red in embarrassment, but she doesn’t roll her lips in trying to stop it. She splashes Maddox with water, then he throws her into the pool with his magic.

She comes up sputtering, her face light with laughter, and my chest eases as I watch them from inside the living room. I want to be outside with them –with her– but my job demands my presence.

It’s been six days since Talon’s betrayal, but he’s finally been spotted in a small town in Alaska, hiding under a false name. He might have survived up there if not for Aleric Zadar’s connections, knowing that I wouldn’t ask our brother to change into him, preferring to kill him with my own two hands.

Two hands...My gaze drops to the one missing as Varius stands beside me, studying me to see if I’m okay with going after someone so close.

I clench phantom fingers as I lift my eyes back to my girl. She suffered because of him. I have to live with the memories of hitting her because of him.

My jaw clenches as my anger overrides the pain. “I’ll leave today,” I tell Varius – the words he wanted to hear.

Talon will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on all of our online presences and will know if I take a plane. He’ll be banking on me not coming out to Alaska if I have to travel up there myself. He probably has people watching the main highways, which is going to make it tricky to actually get to him. Unless...

“I’ll text Vlad then; he’ll be here in a few minutes.”

I smile as I turn to Varius. As a born vampire, Vlad has the ability to phase. He can move only about a hundred miles at a time though, so it’s still going to be a bitch of a journey given my body isn’t made for such travel, but it will be a hel of a lot faster than driving or moving as a shadow and have a much higher chance of success than getting on a plane.

“He volunteer?” I ask.

“I doubt it. He hates you.”

“I can’t think of a reason why.”

He doesn’t respond as he walks away. He wasn’t much of a conversationalist before, but since Talon’s betrayal, he’s barely spoken outside of business.

I have found him outside of Micha’s room sometimes, just standing there staring at her door. My chest tightens as I watch him disappear down the hall, and I wonder if that’s where he’s heading now.

Theirs was not a love match, and I doubt Varius feels guilty over doing what he believed needed to be done, but he has always done his duty, and this must befrustrating him, not knowing how to get her to do hers.

But in the end, Micha has been bought and paid for. She can’t leave even if she wanted to. Her father would kill her as per the common contract of a runaway bride, and the Blacks are well-known for their assassins. We’ve hired a few out ourselves a couple of times.
