Page 34 of Toxic Obsession

Bri wasn't easy to deal with, even when drugs weren't involved, not to mention she knew all my secrets. Secrets I wasn't ready to discuss with Sadie yet.

"No one," I muttered.

She snorted a laugh, shoving a dark curly strand of hair out of her face. "Does 'no one' know about Bella?" I groaned inwardly. That was a complicated situation that I didn't want to discuss, especially not with Sadie. Sadie was an obsession, but I didn't know how exactly she would fit into my future. A future that was already planned for me after graduation in five months.

If I'd known that Bri was coming back with me, I would have made sure Sadie was as far away from here as possible. So, instead, KJ, Taylor, and Alyssa were all throwing drinks at her in hopes she'd pass out drunk before my sister had a chance to air all my dirty laundry.

"There's nothing to know about Bella," I said dryly.

"Mom and Dad would flip if they heard you talk like that," she said, her gaze flashing from me to Sadie. I'd told Sadie my parents were dead because she would never meet them. They would never be a part of her life because they weren't a part of mine for the next five months, at least. That would change after graduation, and Bri knew it. "They would be so disappointed in theirperfectbaby boy to know he's shacking up with someone other than hisperfectfiancé."

"Shut up, Bri," I growled, my gaze snapping to her. Bri was the family outcast. The one who refused to conform to the family rules. She was defiant, reckless, and wild, and because of that, my parents cut her off after her second overdose and a third failed attempt at rehab.

"Just curious," Bri said, narrowing her eyes. "Have you talked to Bella? How would she feel about this 'no one.'"

"Bri." I leaned into her. "Lay off. That situation is complicated, and Sadie—" My voice trailed off.

"Isn't," she finished my sentence. Sadie had her wars to wage, but they weren't mine. They weren't tied to my family; being with her felt like freedom.

"Look, if you want to stay here," I said dryly. "Our family situation stays private." My jaw clenched. "Do you understand?"

"Sure." She shrugged. "But you know that's not fair to anyone."

Fair and reasonable weren't exactly the character traits I was known for.

"Maybe not," I said. "But it's not your problem, is it?"

She leaned over the railing on her arms, her gaze trailing down. "KJ seeing anyone?" She swept her tongue along her bottom lip. I rolled my eyes, and just like that, she'd moved on. "He's fucking hot. When did he get that lip ring?"

"Stay away from my teammates," I muttered. "And stay away from Sadie." Twisting around, I headed to the bar to find Sadie. "You should go to bed and get some rest," I called over my shoulder, nodding to Carter and Rocky as I passed them. They would be responsible for babysitting her tonight and keeping her out of trouble by any means necessary.

SADIE

Drunk laughter filledthe quiet women's room as a pack of overly intoxicated girls stumbled in. I was teetering on the edge but I hadn't fallen over; I'd yet to do the loud, obnoxious drunk girl laugh or the stumble into a hot guy drunk girl fall.

Hiding in one of the stalls, I jerked my legs up to my chest to hide. I wasn't sure why I didn't want to be seen, but something about being forced into the conversation of loud fits of laughter, slurred words, and stumbling around sounded exhausting right now.

"Omigod." I recognized the voices. It was several of the Rally Girls. "I'm so hoping they take me to the darkroom tonight." What the hell was a dark room?

"Caleb took me this morning." Brianna sighed. "And OMIGOD!"

"Do you know who was in the room?" Alyssa asked. The faucet flicked on. "Don't worry," she laughed. "Taylor wasn't there, but Jayden was." My head snapped up, eyes wide.

"You wish," Kayla laughed. "Jayden never participates. He likes to watch, though."

"He has a girlfriend," Alyssa said. "I thought once they were locked down, they weren't allowed in the darkroom anymore."

"Please," Brianna scoffed. "Jayden isn't locked down, and Jayden De Luca is allowed to do whatever he wants. We all know he doesn't follow the rules. He was definitely in the room." I bit down hard on my bottom lip, trying to refrain from busting out of the stall to defend him because the truth was, I couldn't say for sure Jayden wasn't in this so-called dark room doing who knows what because I hadn't seen him almost all day. "It was his mouth on my pussy. I'm one-hundred-percent positive." Anger raced through my veins as her words sank in.

"The whole point of the darkroom is that no one knows who is in there," Casey scoffed. "He may have been, but we've all been there, and I can say for sure that I have no idea who was in that room with me."

"Same," Alyssa said. "Taylor led me into the room the first time, but I can't even say for sure he stayed."

"Look," Brianna laughed. "I know, okay." She paused, and I tried to peek through the crack in the stall to see them, but they weren't in my line of sight. "I recognized his voice when he whispered dirty nasty disgusting words in my ears." My chest tightened. When Jayden decided we were a thing, he never specified that we were monogamous; I'd just assumed.

I needed to know what this dark room was and what had happened inside it. I shoved the stall door open, watching as all their eyes went wide.
