“Oh yes. We believe that the earth provides everything we need, from food to medicine to solace. It’s a calling. What about you? I’m sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Faith Miller.”

“They call me Whisper,” the fucker smiled.

“Why Whisper?”

The fucking dick leaned towards my sister and whispered, “Because I like to…”

“Okay!” I shouted, jumping to my feet. “That’s it. You girls are not helping with anything. Balthazar would kill me dead if anything happened to you. And you!” I said, pointing at the fucker putting the moves on my sister. “Get the fuck away from my sister.”

“Zeke!” Faith gasped. “That is no way to talk to a guest.”

“He’s not a guest!” I roared.

Ignoring me, Faith politely asked, “Would you like to see my greenhouse, Whisper?”

Whisper put his teacup and saucer on the tray and stood. “It would be my pleasure, Faith.”

Before I could stop him, Charity and Hope both got to their feet, talking a mile a minute. Nevil, the dumb fucker, just silently hid his smile as he followed Charity like a lost puppy.

Sitting back down, I asked, “What the fuck just happened?”

“What always happens when there are more women than men? The women rule the roost,” Angel giggled.

Sitting in Hope’s office, I was going over the files Jinx compiled regarding the massacre when Whisper walked in.

“You’re still here?” I sneered, not bothering to look up.

Whisper took a seat. “Said we needed to talk.”

“Don’t want you around my sister.”

“Not your decision.”

Looking up, I growled, “Yes, it is.”

“Look man,” Whisper sighed. “Didn’t come here to cause a fight. I know you’re helping Kansas find out what really happened five years ago. I want in.”

“Don’t need your help.”

“Yeah, you do because the way I see it, I’m all you’ve got. Who else can get the information you need?”

Leaning back in the chair, I looked at the man who wanted my blood on his hands. “How do you know what I’m doing for Kansas? I know he didn’t tell you shit.”

“I saw the brothers take off the other night. Followed them to Kansas’ house.”

“So, you’re a snoop like Faith.”

Whisper smirked.

“You know I have a file on you, right?”

“I do.”

“Alright,” I said, reaching for the mouse and clicking on his file. Leaning forward, I challenged him. “You want to help? Answer me this. Why was Jinx investigating your brother, Amal?”

Whisper stiffened.

“That’s what I thought,” I scoffed. “Just leave. I don’t need your help.”
