Kai lets out a low growl, his desire evident. In one quick motion he pulls close the partition surrounding our seats, lifts the armrest between us and pulls me onto his lap. I gasp as I feel his hardness pressing against me.
His hands grasp my hips firmly as I begin to rock and grind on him. Our breaths come faster, our movements more urgent. I run my fingers through his thick, soft hair and crush my lips to his in a passionate kiss.
Kai slips his hands under my shirt, caressing my skin as he kisses down my neck. I whimper, consumed by the heat of the moment.
Just then, the pilot’s voice comes over the intercom, announcing the turbulence is nothing to worry about but that we should fasten our seatbelts.
Kai and I break apart, both breathing heavily.
As I return to my seat, Kai takes my hand, his thumb gently stroking my palm. Our eyes meet, an unspoken promise passing between us.
* * *
I can’t take my eyes off him. The way he leans back in that plush first class seat, long legs stretched out, designer sneakers crossed at the ankle. His muscular arm drapes over the armrest between us, those strong fingers tapping out a rhythm only he can hear.
“So tell me,” he says, turning towards me with a devilish glint in his dark eyes. “What’s a beautiful woman like yourself doing flying solo?”
I toss my hair back, twisting a lock around my finger. “Remember, my friends are still in Hawaii.”
He nods, eyeing me up and down slowly. “I guess it’s good you had to leave earlier than your girls. Gave you a chance to meet someone new.”
“Oh yeah? And who might that be?” I tease.
Kai chuckles.
The way he looks at me makes my pulse race. I wonder who he really is behind his casual but expensive clothes and smooth lines. He seems dangerous. Thrilling.
“What about you?” I ask.
He observes me for a few seconds before admitting, “I own the airline, so I thought I’d check out our new first class services. Make sure my passengers are…satisfied,” he ends with a wink.
I laugh in surprise. A rich businessman with a playful side. “Is that right? Well I’d say we’re doing just fine so far.”
“Good.” He traces a finger down my arm. “But the flight’s just getting started.”
I shiver at his touch. This man is trouble. But maybe trouble is just what I need.
I take a sip of water to wet my suddenly dry throat. “So…you own this airline, huh? Impressive for someone so young.”
Kai grins, those dark eyes dancing. “Always had the drive to build something of my own, you know?”
I nod. “I feel you. I’ve been busting my ass as a lawyer trying to make partner at my firm. The hours are killer but I love the challenge.”
“Ah, a fellow workaholic.” He raises his glass. “Here’s to ambition and sleepless nights.”
We clink glasses with a laugh.
“For real though, it’s not easy being a black woman in the corporate world,” I say. “I gotta work twice as hard to prove myself.”
“No doubt. I catch hell in business too for being young and brown. But we just have to let our success speak for us.”
I smile, impressed by his spirit. We share that deep desire to break barriers and accomplish greatness against the odds.
Kai leans in close. “How about we talk more about this later over drinks?”
I bite my lip, pulse racing. “I think I’d like that.”
This wolf in sheep’s clothing makes me feel alive. Maybe it’s time I embrace my wild side.
