“It doesn’t matter right now,” the human interrupted. “What matters is that your father isn’t in another realm. He is here. Maybe in Europe.” He made a face. “And we just need to track him down.”
“And send me to him,” I said again. “I’ll drag him back.”
“Well, if you’re going, I’m going,” Pilar started, crossing her arms over her chest.
“No.”
“Vic, I’m saying—”
“No,” I said again, injecting as much as I could into the word. The other two shook with my voice just like the walls, but my wife squared her shoulders and narrowed her eyes at me.
“I’m not letting you go by yourself.” She gritted her teeth.
“This is underworld business,” I retorted.
“And I’m its queen!” she roared in a way that made me wonder how much power could come from that small frame.
Her words awakened my cock, her determination alone enough to make me hard. I wanted to take her now, from behind, and show her who was really in charge.
Knowing me as she did, the smirk came over her lips and she walked to me, her hands trying to reach my neck. I feigned annoyance and scooped her up with one arm, resting her body on my side.
“You won’t go without me,” she said again like it was final, my stubborn little witch.
“Well, let’s go upstairs, get the crystal and get this party started.” Marnie clapped her hands, standing up.
Pilar tried to move from my arms to stand on her own feet, but I wasn’t ready for that. I lived through existence always feeling the same things over and over again. Most of what I felt was boredom. Until now. Until this woman.
She opened a vein and gave me life. She showed me the soul inside my own chest. I wasn’t ready to let her go. Like the vengeful god, I knew I could be, I wanted to keep her. But I felt it, right in my bleeding heart, that I could never say no if she asked to stay.
I couldn’t stay. I was the only god in my territory and even if it was only a couple of hours I already felt the weakness taking over me. The lack of power I had in this realm would slowly suck me dry. I might look impressive enough to scare a couple of humans, but I couldn’t manipulate this plane of existence. I was just a big thing with tall horns.
This wasn’t my place and the underworld couldn’t carry on without me. We were one after all.
One of us needed to give up on something. Pilar would give up her sisters, or I’d have to give up on her.
I kept her in my arms as we followed her sister upstairs while I lied to myself saying that I could be selfless.
“Right so this should be easy,” Marnie said as we entered what I could only assume was her room. “To bring you here I connected to my power.” She took a box with a crystal from her wardrobe. “But Dad is here somewhere so we can use the crystal in the map method.”
This time when Pilar tried to get out of my arms I let her go. She went to Marnie, helping her lay the map out.
“I thought they could be in Europe,” the human commented.
The map was of this city. “That was just a thing we said.” Pilar waved him off. “I think Dad is here. I know he wants something to do with us. I just don’t know why he wouldn’t come straight here?”
“Let’s start with San Francisco,” Marnie decided. “We’ll expand to different countries if we can’t find him.”
“You’re bringing me to him,” I reminded them, stepping into the room properly.
Pilar looked annoyed at me. “No. We’ll find out where he is and—”
“And I’ll go to him.” I tried to put more authority into my tone but it didn’t seem to do anything to my wife.
“If you must,” she agreed without looking at me.
I huffed and let them work.
“Blood should help,” Marnie said.
