“Wake up!” I screeched and slapped Carmine across the face. I was panic-stricken until my boy opened his eyes.
“What the fuck happened?” Carmine demanded weakly, and a sob left my throat.
Cowboy raced over to him.
“I got him, Phoe!” he shouted.
I climbed to my knees and saw bodies everywhere. There were at least fifteen dead on the ground. Some were groaning and bitching, but my gaze sought Rage cuts. I spotted one trying to get up and ran over to find Gauntlet flat out on top of Tye. Tye blinked at me and rolled his eyes.
“Gauntlet, honey. Can you hear me?” I asked as I checked him for wounds. Pipes roared, and I glanced up and saw a lone biker headed towards me. His gun was out, and he wasn’t Rage.
Drake bellowed and spun around as the man aimed.
“Rage’s bitch!” the man snarled, and I grinned.
Seconds later, he hit the ground as Tye fired from under Gauntlet’s body. The loud noise made Gauntlet’s eyes fly open. I found a bullet wound in his shoulder where Tye’s face peeked at me and one on his left side.
“Gauntlet has two but is alert,” I called as more bikes appeared, noticing Klutz running towards me. He dropped his medical case on the ground as Gunner and Rock moved him carefully off of Tye. I saw my boy covered in blood and patted him down.
“I’m okay, Mom; Gauntlet took the bullets for me,” Tye said.
“Phoe!” Drake bellowed, and I rubbed Tye’s head and rose to my knees.
“Bone!” I cried as I run forward towards the Hellfire prospect slumped against a tree. He was bleeding everywhere.
“Klutz, go!” I heard Rosie order as she appeared. Klutz jogged over to me and the critical prospect. Bone had a grip on my hand I thought would break it. Klutz checked him and found the bleeder. His femoral artery had been hit. Klutz fashioned a tourniquet and quickly stopped the bleeding.
“Saved him,” Bone mumbled, and I nodded. I didn’t know who he meant, but I’d soothe him.
“You did, honey,” I said, stroking his brow.
“Fanatic, they were gunning for him, knew who he was. He collapsed under a hail of bullets,” Bone murmured, and my heart stopped. Fanatic, my eldest boy Micah, was somewhere here injured. I couldn’t let Bone’s hand go, as he had a death grip on it, but I turned my head and screamed.
“Micah!”
“Here, Mum, I’m good, don’t worry,” a voice called as a shadowy figure appeared from the treeline. He carried another body, and I gaped when I saw it was Wraith.
“Is Wraith okay?” I demanded, seeing the Hellfire prospect was unconscious.
“Luckily enough, yeah. Maniac chased them on foot, so I ran after him. Four more dead bodies back there,” Micah said grimly. Screw his club name. That was my baby boy, and for now, I needed him to be Micah, not Fanatic. Micah carefully laid Wraith on the floor.
“Where’s he shot?” I asked as Bone released my hand. I saw his eyes were closed, and my heart stuttered before I realised that he was breathing.
“Took a hard whack to the head,” Micah stated. Great, Wraith was just unconscious then.
“Any alive, get them back to Rage. We’re going to have a come to Jesus meeting,” Drake murmured to Gunner and Rock in my hearing. A bike approached at speed, and I saw Ace and Artemis arrive. Rage was still coming; Axel being the latest who sat with Carmine, who was babbling on quite happily about any shit that came to his mind.
“What we got?” Ace demanded, approaching at a jog.
“Rage casualties, Carmine took a graze to the head and was knocked backwards, knocking himself unconscious. Possible concussion. Gauntlet has two shots and is in serious shape but conscious. One shoulder and a side wound. Calamity has a straight-through wound in his arm, and Savage has two in his leg. Wild is down but kicking up a storm as he took a butt shot, so he’s pissed as hell as he can’t sit down. Harley looks like he broke a leg as he got caught between a bike and a tree, but his attacker is dead.”
I tried not to snort that Wild had an ass wound. But I knew it was relief that made me feel amused. No Rage prospects apart from Gauntlet were seriously wounded. Thank God. I looked around for my last boy and spied him arguing with Rosie as she suddenly yanked his leg, and Harley howled. I hurried over and soothed his hair as he glowered at Texas’s pretty daughter.
“Wraith’s unconscious, a blow to the head with a branch. Also has a bullet in his shoulder. Bone is critical. His artery has been severed, and Klutz has him on fluids. He is the priority to leave on the first ambo to arrive. Smokey and Slaughter are both fine. And Fanatic is okay too. He’s got cuts and bruises. Bone tackled him out of the line of fire as they were aiming for him, especially from what I can figure out.”
“He is the eldest son and a strong link between Rage and Hellfire,” Ace replied.
I watched as Gunner and Rock slung several bodies in a van and then disappeared.
