"I agree."
Ezra glances over my shoulder at Jackson and Jace, his nose wrinkling again—only this time, it's quite obvious. "I do hope you're not considering either of those two. They seem wholly unsuited to life in a pack with me."
"Or maybe it's you I won't be considering," I mutter, shaking my head. Who does this man think he is? He can't just talk about people like that. Especially since it's likely that they can hear him. "Well, it was wonderful meeting you, Ezra. I look forward to getting to know you better."
"But—"
"You should go join the others. We still have one more suitor arriving tonight, and I'm starving."
Ezra stands there blinking at me before shaking his head and giving me a tight smile. "Of course. It was lovely meeting you as well, Sophia."
My eyes find Reginald once more, and this time, he isn't bothering to hide his amusement. I shake my head with a laugh.
I've had three very different men, two alphas and a beta, arrive as my suitors. It makes me wonder what the fourth will be like—not to mention the other sixteen that I'll be meeting over the next four days.
Luckily, before I get too lost in my thoughts, I hear the arrival of the fourth limo. Straightening my shoulders, I make sure to focus on the person who steps out so I won't be unprepared as I was with Ezra.
The man who steps out is one of the hottest men I've ever seen in my life. His skin is that beautiful sun-kissed brown that I love so much. Since it's winter, I have to assume it's his natural coloring. He has to be somewhere around six feet tall, and his brown hair is artfully tousled. His eyes are a beautiful olive green as they meet mine. Then he smiles as his eyes trail over me, revealing a mouthful of pearly whites and turning him from attractive to sinfully hot.
He walks over, bending slightly at the waist as he inclines his head. "Hello, omega. I'm Alejandro Delgado, and it's my pleasure to meet you. You're even more beautiful than I thought you would be." He has a slight accent and based upon it and the way he speaks, I'm guessing he has a Hispanic background of some kind.
"It's nice to meet you too, Alejandro." I hold my hand out to him, which he takes and lifts to his lips—and there goes my slick once more. What is it about the simple brush of a man's lips against my skin that gets me going? Oh, gods, and his scent! My eyes fall closed as I inhale the vanilla scent that's intertwined with sweet cane sugar and a zesty lime twist. It's a fascinating combination—especially for an alpha, but it sends more slick rushing from me. Hot and an intriguing scent? Sign me up, please!
When I speak again, my voice is definitely a little bit breathy. "Why don't you tell me a little about yourself?"
"I'm twenty-five and work as a model, which I'm sure you could guess. I am the youngest of five siblings—three brothers and one sister. My sister is a beta, as is one of my brothers. Myself and the other two are alphas. We were raised in a big pack with six alpha dads, one beta dad, and two beta mothers."
"Wow, that really is quite a large pack to be raised in, and then there were five of you. At least the adults outnumbered the kids," I say with a laugh. "Are you close with them?"
He shrugs. "My parents don't believe being a model is a real job—even though I make more money than any of them. I love my siblings, but we all live very different lives. We come together when we can, but it's not often. And you?"
"No family so at least that's something you don't have to worry about." I laugh again. Alejandro seems unsure if he should laugh, so I quickly change the subject. "What's it like to be a model?"
Once he starts talking, he doesn't seem to want to stop. While it's interesting, I wish I'd chosen a different topic. His job couldn't be any more different from mine, and my eyes are definitely glazing over. Reginald grabs my attention over Alejandro's shoulder, and I wait for a moment so I don't have to cut him off mid-sentence, but it seems I have no choice.
"Wow. I really never knew how much went into being a model. It sounds exhausting," I say, cutting him off with a smile. "But I think it's time for us to wrap up and head in for dinner. If I don't get some food in me soon, I'm going to turn into a monster."
Alejandro frowns, crossing his arms over his chest before he starts full-on pouting. Without a word to me, he storms past me to where the other suitors wait.
My eyes are wide when they land on Reginald. I mouth "what the fuck" at him, and he just shrugs.
"Well, Sophia, you've met your first four suitors, and now you'll be able to spend some time getting to know them. I wish you all the best of luck tonight and then tomorrow on your group date. You'll find out more about the group date later tonight. Go and enjoy your meal."
"Thanks, Reginald." With a quick wave, I turn on my heel to find Tessa and Bree both waiting beside my suitors.
Bree smiles. "If the five of you will follow me, we'll head inside to the dining room. You'll receive your room assignments directly after dinner. Whoever shows you to your room will also give you a tour of the house at the same time."
"Does anyone have any questions?" Tessa asks, but we all shake our heads. "Perfect. Just follow Bree, and we'll see you after dinner. Thanks again for being here."
Bree gestures for us to follow her before starting up the path. Alejandro's still pouting as he falls in step with Bree, and Ezra is right behind him—neither of them so much as glancing at me. I just shake my head in disbelief. This certainly isn't how I expected this first encounter to go.
At least Jackson inclines his head in my direction before following the others, with only Jace remaining beside me. He scratches his head as he watches them all walk away.
"They do realize that we're all here trying to win you over, don't they?" His confusion is clear in his tone, and I'm glad I'm not the only one confused.
I shrug. "One would think so, but they're not acting like they want to, are they? Not Jackson—he's fine. But Ezra and Alejandro. Ezra is a little abrasive in how he speaks, and I have no idea if he's even remotely interested. Alejandro, though? He seemed interested, but it seems I did something to piss him off. Fuck if I know what, but I hope he realizes that I'm not looking to add someone who acts like a child to my pack. If I want a kid, I'll have one."
"I'd be happy to help you with that." When I turn in Jace’s direction, he's smirking again as he waggles his eyebrows at me. I can't help but laugh. "Or at least help you practice. Whatever you want."
