Asher kisses me before playing pass the Chase. By the time Sophia has made it back to us, I can't wipe the smile off my face. I love my pack so much, and they've made it perfectly clear just how much they love me.
I take Sophia's hand in mine before she leads us toward the door. I glance over my shoulder to find Asher and Liam crowding in on Carson's side as they watch us walk away. Carson lifts his hand to wave, and I don't know why, but it brings tears to my eyes. Is it because I'm leaving them behind as I venture into something new?
"Are you okay?" Sophia asks, pausing in the doorway and following my line of sight.
I blow my pack kisses before nodding. "I am. I want this so please don't think I don't. It just feels a little like I'm leaving them behind."
"But you're not. I don't want to take you away from them. Maybe we should wait—"
"Absolutely not." I cup her face in my hands as I shake my head. "I told you, I want this. I'm just a little surprised by the way I'm feeling. They know I love them, and I know they love me. They're my pack and always will be. It's just things are a little different than how we expected them to go. We're moving forward, and I'm so happy."
I kiss her then, hoping that I can wipe away any doubts I've put in her mind. That's not what I wanted.
We pull apart when we hear the catcalls coming from the ballroom, turning to find all of the suitors—including my pack—grinning at the show we've put on.
"Better get to your suite before we cause a massive orgy." I wrap my arm around her shoulders as she laughs. And just like that, I know we're going to be okay. I might not know how the hell it's going to work out, but I know we'll figure it out—together.
Chapter Twenty-two
Sophia
I lead Chase into my suite, past the bed, and into the closet where the hidden nest is. He lifts an eyebrow as we come to a stop next to the wall. "A hidden nest?"
I nod. "Bree, Tessa, and security are the only ones who know exactly where it is. But none of them have access unless they think it's an emergency like a fire or something. That requires a member of security, Tessa, and Bree for them to override it."
I know I'm babbling, but for some reason I'm nervous. It's not like I haven't slept with Chase before. In fact, we were together numerous times during our heat two years ago. Maybe it's because we're not in heat?
"Hey, it's alright, Soph. We don't have to do anything tonight."
I snort. "Yeah, right. Like the two of us would be able to keep our hands to ourselves all night."
He shrugs, a smirk painting his face. "You're probably right."
"I don't know why I'm nervous. I guess it's because this is the first step toward forming my pack? I don't know. I'll be fine. Tomorrow, I'll have Bree or Tessa show us how to add your thumbprint so you can access the nest as well."
I lean over and press my thumb to the scanner. "I just ask that you not bring your pack in here yet. I want this to be your nest too, but until we've all sat down and talked..."
He leans in to kiss me, barely a brush of his lips against mine. "I understand. Don't worry, omega. I won't sully our nest without you."
I laugh as I slip into the door and reach for the switch for the fairy lights. Chase shuts the door behind us, and I sigh as I settle into the cushions I picked out. "If there's anything you want to add to the nest, just let Bree or Tessa know. Or me and I'll let them know. I want you to be comfortable in here too."
"This is good," he says as he starts rearranging the cushions, pillows, and blankets around us. "Though, I might ask for some other blankets. This is just a temporary nest, but it looks like a lot of the same things. That makes sense, I guess. It would suck to be fated to an omega who wanted the exact opposite of what you wanted in the nest."
It's then that I realize that Chase is just as nervous as I am which helps me relax. I smile as I burrow deeper into the nest he's built us. "Come here, omega."
I crook a finger at him. A grin lights up his face as he crawls to me, not stopping until he's caged me beneath his body. "Yes, Sophia?"
I start tugging at his shirt. "There's too many clothes in this nest. From now on, there's no clothes allowed in the nest."
"I can get behind that." He laughs as he sits up, yanking his shirt off. I scramble to a seated position and quickly follow suit. Each flash of skin he reveals distracts me, but it's totally worth it when we're both sitting there naked.
I love the way his eyes trace up and down my body. I lick my lips as I allow my eyes to dip over his body once more. While it's obvious he works out, his muscles well defined, he's more lithe than alphas or betas. No matter how hard he works out, he'll never be built like them. The same is true of me. I'll always have curves where other women are flat, and no amount of working out will make me as fit as an alpha or some beta women.
It's just part of our biology that makes us this way. It makes us desirable to alphas and betters the chances of continuing our race. Or at least that's what they teach us in school. I can just as easily get pregnant by a beta or an omega as I can an alpha. But that's not something they share with us.
I sigh. This isn't what I want to be thinking about right now. Hell, I don't want to think at all as my eyes find his hard cock. Slick is already spilling from the tip, mixing with his pre-cum. I bite my lip, practically panting as desire washes over me.
Slick gushes from me, spilling out onto the cushions, but I don't care. I launch myself at Chase, knocking him backward as my lips crash into his. I snake my hand between us, stroking his cock as soon as my hand closes around it. Chase moans into the kiss, his hands sliding down my body until he finds my tits.
