Page 80 of Knot Their Reality

Brooks meets my challenge with a smirk and ten minutes later, I have to admit he can in fact dance. We've only been given twenty minutes, and when Sophia stands up to announce there are only five minutes left, we run through it a few more times to make sure we have it down.

"And that's time!" The omegas cheer together.

All fifteen of us gather around them once more, awaiting our instructions. It could be seen as a little pathetic, but I think it's amazing that everyone is putting their all into this because Sophia is asking them to.

"You've all had twenty minutes to come up with what equates to about a ten second dance. The chorus will play three times with a short pause in between. We expect you to complete your dance during the last two playthroughs." Sophia grins. "Does anyone have any questions?"

I raise my hand, waiting until she notices before asking, "What order are we going in?"

"Ahhh. Chase, would you like to let them know how the order is being decided?"

Chase grins, lifting a basket for all of us to see. "All of the pairs and trio have been written on a piece of paper and tossed in this basket. We'll be choosing your names at random."

"Seems fair," I admit, though I'd prefer to know the list ahead of time so I don't psych myself out too much. But I understand why they've chosen to do it like this. I lean into Brooks. "Doesn't matter when we go. We've got this."

He nods, lifting his fist for me to bump before we settle into chairs so we can watch the show unfold. Once we're all seated, Sophia reaches a hand into the basket and pulls out a scrap of paper.

"First up, we have Gage and Foster!"

The two men shuffle to the makeshift dance floor that's been cleared for us, shaking their heads while the omegas beam at them. "Are you ready?"

"If that's what you want to call it." Foster laughs. "Bodies like this aren't meant to dance, sweetheart."

"Speak for yourself," I yell. Foster just flips me off as he laughs.

"Let's get this over with so you can all laugh," Gage grumbles, but there's a smile on his face.

Sophia presses a button on the remote she holds. There's a moment of silence before the music plays. Then there's a short pause before it begins again. My smile only grows as I watch the two men rolling their bodies, shaking their asses, and waving their hands in the air. They're both completely offbeat and out of sync, but it's hilarious.

We all try to hold back our laughter, but Sophia's the first one to break as they launch into the dance a second time. Her hands slap down on the table, her laughter spilling in the air, and the rest of us lose it. As soon as the music ends, I jump to my feet and clap, whistling.

Even though we're all half laughing, everyone gets to their feet and claps for them. They were far from good, but they did their job of entertaining us. The next pair up is Jackson and Malik. They both do some jerky movements that I guess could be classified as dancing. Either that or they're having seizures.

Jace and Quinn go after them, and they're hamming it up, using their charm to make up for the fact that they both have two left feet. The first ones to shock me are Liam and Ulf. They both step up with serious faces, and I just know this is going to go badly.

Only, it doesn't.

As soon as the chorus begins its second round, the two of them move in perfect synchronization. It takes me a moment to realize why the dance they do looks familiar. It’s the dance that the really popular boy band of alphas—what the hell is their name—made go viral last year. I'm shocked because neither of these men look like they listen to boy bands, but they sure are rocking the dance. I never would've thought of using it with this song, but it works really well. And damn, do they do it well.

"What the hell?" I hiss, eyes wide as I turn to Brooks.

He snorts. "Didn't see that one coming—that's for sure. Don't worry, man. Ours is better. I know because that's one of the dances I did with the nurses."

"Of course you did." I shake my head, jumping to my feet and yelling for them as they finish up. Gotta give credit where credit is due, after all. I'd hate to be whoever is after them. Unless it's us because like Brooks said, our dance is better.

Asher and Brody are called next, and I'm not overly surprised to find neither of those men can dance, but they give it their all. They seem to be embracing their deficiencies and have thrown in all kinds of dance moves that are simple, but hilarious. Laughing, I once again applaud.

Every damn one of us deserves it for getting up there and trying.

"Brooks and Dylan!" Sophia's voice calls out, and the two of us climb to our feet. A quick fist bump and we're ready. As soon as the chorus begins the second time, I'm in the zone. I trust that Brooks has it, and focus on getting the more complicated steps right the first time. The second time, I feel more at ease and as soon as we're done, there's a moment of silence before everyone starts hooting and hollering.

Sophia and Chase are both grinning at us, clapping their hands. We head back to our seats, accepting the others' praise as we go. The last group is the trio: Ezra, Carson, and Alejandro. An interesting combination, and I don't know what to expect from them. They could be great or terrible.

As they line up, I slap Brooks on the shoulder. "We killed it."

"Hell yeah we did."

I turn my attention back to the trio as the music begins. Ezra is in the middle, Carson leaning against him on one side while Alejandro does the same on the other side. The moment that the chorus begins the second time, Ezra's legs snap together as he claps his hands. I can't focus on the other two as I watch him stiff arm his way through what looks like cheerleading moves.
