I glance from face to face, and each of them nods their agreement. I lean over to grab Chase's hand and carefully lay the fox there. "Keep her safe for me?"
"Of course." Chase cuddles it to his chest. "I won't let anything happen to her."
I turn around to face the room once more, wondering what I can find for each of them to paint. I know I could just grab something from the walls for them, and they'd be happy, but I plan to put some thought into this. I'm going to find the perfect thing for each of them.
It takes longer than it probably should, but I finally make my way back to them with five items that are perfect for each of them and an extra for me. When I started my search, Michael handed me a basket so I could carry everything at once—something I'm grateful for since I chose a few larger items.
"So what did you pick for us, Sophia?" Carson asks with an easy grin, trying to sneak a peek in the basket, but I slap his hand away.
"You'll find out when we're in the painting room. Impatient much?" I roll my eyes, trying to hide a smile as Chase hands me the fox figurine. I place it carefully into the basket before sliding my arm through his. "You'd think he was the omega and not us."
Carson scoffs. "I heard that."
"You were meant to," I call over my shoulder with a laugh. "We're ready, Michael."
"Excellent. Just follow me. We have a few private rooms in the back for times like this. I have plenty of paints back there for you."
We trail behind him and into the room. We all settle around the table, and Michael looks at me expectantly. I reach into the box and pull each item out, setting them on the table in front of me. "Obviously, the fox is for me—though I also found this little corgi for me to do too. I'm feeling greedy. What can I say?"
We all laugh before I grab the giant wolf's head. "I'm sorry it's so big, Liam, but as soon as I saw it, I knew you had to have it. It reminds me of you—snarl and all. Asher, for you, I found this bald eagle figurine. It's majestic and powerful like you. Carson, this teddy bear is actually a cookie jar so I'm sure you'll love it. And Chase, this is Dug from that old Disney movie, Up. I'm not sure if you've seen it or not, but he's adorable like you."
All four of them grin back at me, but Chase is the first to reach for his piece. "I haven't seen it, but I'd love to watch it with you. And he is really cute."
"It's a date." I chew my bottom lip as I glance between the remaining three men who haven't said anything as they stare down at what I've chosen for them. "If you don't like—"
"It's perfect," Liam's gruff voice cuts me off, a smile on his lips. "I don't think you could've found anything better."
Asher nods. "Agreed."
When my eyes land on Carson, I find his eyes narrowed on me. "Are you calling me a teddy bear? A fat teddy bear at that?"
I giggle, lifting my hands to my face while Chase bursts out laughing beside me. "Well, if the shoe fits..."
He shakes his head at the two of us before smiling. "I guess I am kind of a teddy bear."
It takes about an hour to finish our painting, Michael chatting with us as we do so. It's fascinating to find out how he's already had two heats, and according to the doctors, he's a fully functioning omega at this point.
I love how each of the guys also asks him questions. I know that not everyone agrees with allowing others to transition into other designations, but I think it's the best medical discovery we've had to date.
I love that not one member of Pack Lewitt seems to hold any negative opinions on the topic—or at least not that they've shared.
"I'll get these into the kiln now, and the full process will take about two days. I'll make sure to have everything delivered to the mansion no later than Tuesday morning."
We say our goodbyes and head for the door. We hop into the SUV and head to the burger place I chose for lunch. It's one of those gourmet burger places that lets you build your burger from scratch. I've never been to one before, but since I love burgers, I figured it was a good choice.
It turns out I'm right, and the burgers are amazing, if a little overpriced. So are their french fries, onion rings, hush puppies, and sweet potato fries. I insisted that we get one of each so we could all try them. Then after lunch, we pile into the SUV and head to the botanical garden. It's gorgeous, and I'm surprised at the amount of plants that can survive in this heat.
By the time we head home, my energy is flagging, and so is Chase's. The two of us can barely keep our eyes open as we climb into the backseat. I'm half asleep as I curl up on his chest, his arms wrapping around me. I can hear the others enter, and I know someone sits on my other side, but I have no idea who it is, nor do I care.
At this moment, all I care about is taking a quick nap in my omega's arms. Which is exactly what I do as I hear Liam, Asher, and Carson talk quietly around us. It's not until Chase starts to purr that I finally fall completely to sleep, feeling safe and happy.
Chapter Twenty
Sophia
"Omegas..."
I hum, burying my head further into the chest beneath my head and try to ignore the voice urging me to wake up.
