Page 55 of Knot Their Reality

Chase is practically bouncing in his seat. "Can I go first? Please?" His eyes move between the other three men, waiting to receive a nod from each of them before turning his attention back to me. "I finished school last year after finally deciding what I wanted to get my degree in. I took extra classes to distract me and to get done sooner. I ended up getting a bachelor's in Political Sciences, and now I'm working as an omega lobbyist."

"Oh, Chase... that's amazing. I bet you're doing an amazing job—you're perfect for that kind of job."

He flushes, head ducking. "I love it, and I'm really good at it. I love being able to see the changes that I'm helping bring about for omegas like me. And I never would've thought of it if it wasn't for you and the conversation we had at the cabin. So thanks for that."

"You would've figured it out even without us talking about other jobs that dealt with law." My smile is so big that my cheeks are beginning to ache, but I love that he found a career doing something that he loves.

"If I'm not working, I'm usually reading, but it usually has something to do with work. They love to give me a hard time about it," he says, gesturing to his pack. "But I know that they're happiest when I'm happy soooo...."

"What about the rest of you?" I ask after we're all done laughing.

"We are still living in Brentwood, though we're looking at other areas around LA. The house we have is nice, but we're already outgrowing it." Asher shoots me a small smile. "I can work anywhere so we decided to stay in the LA area. I'm a venture capitalist and own the company. We still have an office back in Seattle where we moved from, but now we have one in LA too."

I hum as I take a bite of my chicken—and damn is it good—as I watch him. "It makes sense that you're a venture capitalist. You come from old money, don't you? There's probably a family company or something that you didn't want to be a part of so you took the money and invested in others' ideas."

“Well, she certainly called that," Carson says, a smile spreading across his lips. "His older brother runs the company and Asher had zero interest in it. He was actually a professor at the university that Liam and I both attended. He started the venture company when we bonded as a pack, eight years ago. He didn't stop teaching until the spring of the year we were at the cabin."

"I can tell my own story, Carson," Asher says with a roll of his eyes, but he's smiling. "I had others basically running the company because I love teaching, but things were a little awkward with Chase attending the university. The dean at the time said he didn't feel comfortable having my mate taking my classes so I quit. And honestly, I love being a venture capitalist. Being able to help out other companies that have great ideas but don't have the means to get their company off the ground. It's gratifying to be able to help others."

I incline my head. It's a very Asher thing to do, at least based on the time we spent together. I've got to stop acting as if I know them because I don't. There wasn't enough time to get to know them.

"What about your leisure time?"

Chase snorts. "Asher doesn't know what leisure time is or how to relax unless we force him to. He's always working or working out, unless I can convince him to watch a movie with me or something."

"As if you're one to talk, omega," Asher growls, and there goes my panties.

I take a deep breath, swallowing hard as I try to keep the desire off my face. I remember what it was like to have him speak to me like that during my heat. It was so hot—they're all so hot. And I really need to stop thinking about the heat that we shared and about their cocks.

Fuck.

I fidget in my seat as heat rushes through me, slick spilling from me.

It's hard pretending that I haven't already had these men's cocks inside of me as I learn the things about them that I didn't take the time to learn in our short time together. Honestly, this whole situation is a mess, and I have no idea how to properly deal with it.

Clearing my throat, I feel Liam's gaze heavy on me and ignore it, turning to Carson instead with a tight smile. "And you Carson?"

His smile lights up his face as he leans forward. "I'm a vet tech, so I spend my days working mostly with dogs and cats. I love it."

I find myself smiling as I picture him playing with the animals. Honestly, it's kind of the perfect job for him. Internally, I sigh. I need to stop acting like I know these men. Sure, I got to know them somewhat, but there's so much I don't know.

"I bet you enjoy that."

"I really do. I always thought I'd become a vet, but I found that I didn't care much for school, and to be a vet tech, it was only two years versus four. It's not like I don't do a lot of the same things I would've done as a vet anyway."

"I can understand that. College isn't for everyone. I spent seven years in school between getting my bachelor's degree and then law school. If I didn't love the law so much, there's no way I could've made it through all that." I shoot him a genuine smile this time. "One of the other suitors is a vet. Though, he's on a reality vet show so his experience might be different from yours."

"Who is it?" Carson's eyes widen. "I watch a lot of those shows."

"Malik Bakir."

“Seriously? That is so cool. I can't wait to meet him." Carson is practically bouncing in his seat, something I find extremely adorable.

I love that I already feel calmer just listening to him speak. It's crazy how that works—how someone can calm you down just by talking. I know it's a beta thing, but as with Brody, I can't help thinking that it's also just a Carson thing.

"So besides reality vet shows, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?"

As Carson keeps talking, I can still feel Liam's eyes on me. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time turning my attention back to him, but finally I have no choice.
