“Yes!” He grinned. “That’ll be perfect! Don’t worry, I won’t cause any major problems. I never do.”
“If you can, try to target assholes.” Kelly chuckled. “The guys that ruin everyone else’s night.”
“I can do that.” He smirked. “When can we go? Can we go now?”
“Well, right now, it’s four o’clock.” I laughed. “We’ll go around ten. How’s that sound?”
“Ten.” He nodded. “I can entertain myself until ten!”
“Good.” I looked over at Kelly. “Now we’ve got to find stuff to wear, though.”
“Come on!” She took my hand, and we went to her room first to go through all of her stuff. We didn’t find anything very inspiring in her closet, so we moved to mine, then I had an idea.
I had these white and black bodysuits that basically looked like leotards. So with that in mind, we made a quick trip to the fabric store, where we let Soul rearrange just a couple of things, and got some tulle to make tutus. We also got some black and diamond rhinestones to put on the actual bodysuits to make them look more dramatic. After that and three hours of fabric glue, we had ourselves matching Black Swan and White Swan costumes. We agreed I would be White Swan and Kelly would be Black Swan.
“All right!” Kelly smiled as she parked her car across the street from the bar. We had used bits of tulle to make ourselves hairpieces and of course had gone all out with the makeup. It all looked fairly homemade, but we still looked hot, so we didn’t care. “Ready?”
I smiled and started to get out. I had agreed to sit in the back seat since Soul was, you know, gigantic. Before Soul got out, Kelly put her hand on my shoulder.
“Okay, I have an idea,” Kelly said. “What do you think of Soul making it so people can see him?”
“What?” I frowned at the suggestion.
“It’s Halloween!” she reminded me. “People are just going to assume he’s in a costume.”
“I… I don’t know… Why do you even want him to do that?” I asked.
“Because it makes me nervous when I can’t see him,” she admitted.
“Okay, that’s fair.” I sighed. I looked at Soul. “What do you think? I don’t want it to put you in any danger.”
“I think it sounds fun.” He smirked. “I can always disappear to cause trouble. But when I’m really there, I can dance with you.”
I blushed a bit at that, suddenly grateful for all the layers of white makeup. “I… Okay. But be mindful. I really don’t want anyone seeing you and knowing what you are, okay?”
“Okay!” He nodded, and I saw Kelly blink at him. I assumed that meant he had just manifested himself to be visible. After that, he got out of the car. Now that everything was taken care of, I took Kelly’s hand, Soul took my arm, and we headed across the street into the club.
It was called Hundred, which didn’t make a ton of sense, but neither did most club names. When we realized the guy at the door was checking IDs, Soul made himself invisible until we all got inside. I assume he reappeared at some point, but it was hard for me to tell since I always saw him.
“Can people see you?” I asked.
“Not yet,” he chuckled. “Wait here.”
I stopped walking with Kelly. Soul walked over to the bathroom and disappeared behind the wall for a split second, then came back out. When he did, he got a few looks, so I knew he had reappeared.
Soul nodded at me. “All good.”
I was still a bit nervous. I kept an eye on him as we headed for the stairs. The bottom floor was just a bar with stools and tables. The actual dance floor was upstairs, according to the signs, so that’s where we headed. I wanted us all to have a good time, but him being visible, being here at all just worried me. I didn’t want anything to happen to him, and this put him at risk. But he was bored out of his mind at the house, and that wasn’t very fair. With that in mind, I tried to get myself to relax.
The top floor of the club was a mid-sized area, not a hole in the wall but not huge either. It was packed, however. That was impressive for a Sunday night.
“Damn.” A guy walked by and looked Soul up and down. “That’s fucking sick.”
“Thanks.” Soul smirked. Oh, he was so going to get a big head after this.
A girl walked by and gasped at us, then squealed about how cute Kelly and I looked. I thanked her before Kelly pulled me to the dance floor. I kept hold of Soul’s hand, pulling him to follow. I’d set him loose eventually, but for now, I wanted him close.
The club was playing a “Thriller” remix. Kelly and I both started dancing to it, and I looked over at Soul.
