A knock on the door and I hesitate for a moment, thinking that the three sky kings decided to make sure I am in school spirit but then I hear Haven.
“Let me in, it’s Haven.” I smile and move to the door. When I open it, I see she is dressed similarly but in silver and sky-blue.
“Hey, you look great.” I compliment her. Her hair is pulled up and she has one eye in shimmering silver and another in sky-blue. Her lips are glossed over, and she is wearing white sneakers as well. She is simply stunning, and I move back to allow her in.
“I wanted to know if you wanted to walk to the game together.” She laughs, closing my door and eyeing my clothing, “but now I think we should go together after it has started. What do you say?”
Chuckling myself, I nod my head. “Sounds like a deal.”
“You look great, by the way.” She looks me over and I feel a little hesitant, but she really does look genuine.
“Thank you.” We hang out and talk for a little and when it is time, we walk down hand in hand and the football game is just starting. I move over to the South Warren side, and surprisingly, and despite the glares, Haven moves with me. She sticks out in her sky-blue get-up, but she smiles happily and I make sure to grab her hand. I don’t want anyone to make her feel unwelcome.
The smell of the field brings back memories, and sitting down, I catch one of the cheerleaders' eyes who ends up waving me down. I pull Haven with me and Kelsey screeches.
“Oh, my god, Brinley, we need you tonight. Michelle has a sprained ankle and was told to sit out. Would you mind?”
I attempt to decline when Haven nudges me forward and I nod, actually feeling a little happy about it. “Same cheers?” I ask Kelsey.
“Yup.” She pops her p, her blonde hair hanging in waves around her shoulders. She says it makes her look sexier when she does her flips, and I look at the rest of the cheerleaders and I nod and wave to Rochelle and Jax and Jaz. Rochelle is another flier, and Jax and Jaz are both her support.
“You got this, babe.” Rochelle shouts. Haven leans against the fence, blocking the crowd from the field. I quickly introduce her as someone from South Warren pulls out a boombox as our team is introduced.
Blaise is the last one out being the captain, and his eyes find mine immediately. His eyes soak in my outfit and the heat that hits sends sparks right to my core. He got a fresh fade and is clean shaven. Blaise looks sexy in uniform with his black pants, tight to his body showcasing, and ass you can bounce a quarter off.
Before the coaches can gather the team, Blaise runs over to the side where I am standing, and his lips meet mine in a quick heated kiss. I didn’t think he was going to do that, so I don’t have much time to react. He runs back to his coach, and I feel eyes burning into me and I search for the source and see three nasty glares that belong to the sky kings.
I can feel the anger leaking from them, but I tune them out and turn to Kelsey, letting her know I am in. I move with them as the music blasting from the boombox starts our hype cheer, and I get up in front with Kelsey and start to move my body. The crowd behind me cheers as we move fluidly.
Kingston and Blaise move to the center, and I notice how sexy the two of them are and it irks me that those thoughts are in my head.
We got the ball and I watch as Remington kicks it off, and of course, we snatch it from the air and they start to run the play. Being this close, you can see the strength and the determination in every player on the field, and because South Warren knows how to party, someone throws on GeekALeek by Cash Kidd. It kicks us off to another cheer as the crowd goes wild with our first down.
Blaise is tackled with the ball and when the opposing player leans down, I know in that moment it is Loyal. I know which ones are Loyal, Remington and Kingston. They are broader and faster than the rest of their team.
We take a break from cheering and Haven joins me on the bench, dragging my hand in hers and it hits me that I like having a friend, one who is a girl. I have never been this close to someone other than Blaise, but Haven managed to sneak past my wall without me even realizing.
“Damien is here.” She whispers and I turn my head and I search the crowd. I see Damien who winks down at me and I shake my head and continue to roam over the crowd. Just like I thought, Vince is in attendance as well.
“I hope they don’t start shit tonight.” Kelsey mentions from beside me. “I don’t want them fucking up this game.”
I hate that anyone has to say anything like that. Vince and Damien always disrupt shit. They are like five year olds with guns. Vince’s presence is even more disturbing. With his threat of taking me still heavy in my mind, him being here is never a good thing.
I was going to wait for Blaise, but if Vince stays the whole time, I may have to slip out early, or follow the crowd so there is no chance for either guy to try and talk to me alone.
During half time, each side of cheerleaders are allowed to move to the center and have fifteen-minutes each to perform. Skystead has their band that they dance to along with some Britney Spears. The crowd for them shows their support with hand clapping and a few whistles, but I know our side will be much louder.
I see some of the football players lingering at the end of the field and of course, it is the three assholes as I step up with the swamp cheerleaders and we move to the middle. Kitty Kat By Megan Thee Stallion blasts from the boombox, much to the disappointment of Skystead.
We dance our asses off, and with the way the crowd shouts and cheers and even get up and dance with us, it makes me feel great. Kelsey motions me to the back, wanting me to take Rochelle’s fly position, which means Rochelle must not be feeling well.
She moves up ahead while I move to Jax and Jaz. Twin brothers with builds like football players and skin as dark as night. They nod to me, and I place my hands on their shoulders. I do the three counts when they pick me up, before they do another three which signals the jump.
I’m thrust in the air and tuck my legs to allow the tumble. As I am coming down, I perform my breath hitches. I haven’t done this in so long, even being tossed makes my stomach rumble. I land safely and continue my routine and finish out their routines.
After half time, I am full of energy, I watch the players run out to the field and I spot Blaise. His eyes are trained on Kingston and the flare of anger crosses his face. I know he is thinking about the time when we were caught in the car after we had sex.
I watch the two of them wait for the whistle and they start the second half of the game. The rest of the night is a blur until the final play when one of the running backs from South Warren makes the final play, ending the game with South Warren winning.
