Chapter 28

Hunter

“Are you going to take it or not?” Foster snapped impatiently.

Rocky stood across from us, arms folded over his chest. The smug look he wore made me want to pummel his face. Myles had just warned him to steer clear of Aspen—that she was ours to play with. We were sick of him hanging all over her like some kind of bitch in heat. Foster told him if he didn’t accept that, then we wouldn’t be dealing to him anymore.

A shiver burrowed through me as the wind intensified and I found myself shrinking into my hoodie, the cotton brushing against my skin.

“You do realize I could leave campus if I wanted to, right?” he inquired, tilting his head to the side.

“You could,” Collin agreed. “But where would you get your shit?” A slow smile spread across his face. “You don’t have a dealer—other than us.”

Rocky shrugged, seemingly unfazed as he shot a sideways glance over to Jax. If we lost Rocky, it would suck for our business. Up until now, we’ve managed to separate our personal feelings from dealing. Rocky and his crew were our top buyers.

“You really want to miss out on drugs and potential income for a slut who’s been through most of us and even Monroe,” Foster snapped, drawing our attention to him.

Rocky’s eyes widened comically, which had been my reaction too when I found out about the two of them. As shocking as it was, Foster seemed to be taking it harder than the rest of us. There were a million reasons to hate Aspen Palmer. She was rude, had no morals, used violence to solve her problems, and refused to bow. Why everyone wanted her was beyond me. Aside from her body, she had nothing to offer.

“You expect me to believe that she had sex with Monroe?” he challenged, disbelief etched into his features.

“Believe what you want,” Foster supplied. “I saw it yesterday with my own eyes. Went to talk to Monroe after classes about a paper. Needless to say, he was a bit preoccupied.

The two guys across from us exchanged looks as they communicated silently before returning their attention to us. Finally, Rocky grabbed the drugs from Foster, and dropped them near Jax’s feet where he then started rummaging through the bag to make sure we weren’t screwing them over.

Once satisfied, he handed over the money. Foster flipped through the bills, making sure it was all there and then nodded.

“We’ll be seeing you,” Jax said with a smirk, before both guys started off in the opposite direction.

As Myles and Collin broke into a conversation, I found my mind wandering. I’d made several attempts over the last week to reach out to Jess, but it was pointless. I couldn’t even blame her for being upset. She was used to being used, played, and cheated on. To her, I wasn’t any better than her exes.

I originally wanted to talk to her at the party, but with the shit happening with Raven, that was obviously out of the equation.

A hand coming down on the back of my shoulder, startled me back to reality. I turned around, ready to fight and came face to face with a smirking Collin instead.

“Meet me at the fields during fourth period,” he said. “I’m in the mood to play.”

There were still about three hours left until fourth period, so I sat on the edge of my bed and let my thoughts consume me as they always seemed to do lately. My life felt like a wreck, and most days, it was hard to even get out of bed now.

I knew me and Jessica weren’t right for each other. Hell, I’d been wondering when I should break things off myself, but it was something I hadn’t really thought through all the way.

On top of that, I hadn’t heard a word from my mom within the last year—which was probably a good thing, but it was still difficult to cope with.

As if this wasn’t enough, we still didn’t know what to do about Raven. What was talking to her going to do? Torturing her was an option, but it didn’t feel right. What would that solve? Most people we fucked up didn’t live to tell the tale.

Slapping a hand over my face, I brought myself to my feet. I wasn’t in the mood to sit in the cafeteria while the guys all goofed off, so I stayed in my room instead, until it was time to head to third period.

Shoving my way out into the hall, I headed out of the building and toward my English class.

As soon as I slipped through the door, Raven’s eyes clashed with mine from across the room. We hadn’t been on speaking terms lately with everything that happened between me and Jess and she messaged me demanding answers for why Aspen kept showing up all messed up.

When my gaze moved to Aspen, I couldn’t help the curl of my lips as I pictured her getting railed by our history teacher. Slut shaming wasn’t something I cared for—not until I met Aspen and realized what the true definition of a slut was. Even though the thought of her with him disgusted me, it also had my dick twitching.

Annoyance flooded through me, and I made my way over to my seat, dropping down next to Collin.

It was weird how we all managed to befriend one another when we all had different personalities. The one person that seemed to be the most like me was Collin. Somehow, we all just gravitated toward one another.

Myles was the kind of guy you could sit with in comfortable silence for hours. Collin was the kind of guy you could joke with, play video games with, flirt with girls with, and ask for advice, etc. Then there was Foster. Foster enjoyed being in control. He wasn’t vocal about his feelings and only seemed to react when things pissed him off. He was loyal to a fault though, and definitely someone you wanted in your corner.
