“They can’t just keep getting away with this, Aspen.” She shook her head in refusal, that same contemplative look taking hold of her features again. “I have proof of what they’ve been doing.” My gaze snapped to hers immediately.

“What do you mean proof?”

Heaving a sigh, she shifted on the bed so that she could see me better. “I want to tell you something…” she trailed off, a nervous pitch to her tone. “But you have to promise me that you won’t say a word to anyone about this. Not even Gia.”

“Raven, what—”

“Promise me,” she said in desperation.

I hesitated a moment before nodding. If she didn’t want me telling her secret, that wasn’t a problem. The whole thing felt kind of off though. “I promise,” I murmured, not having much of a choice in the matter. Her shoulders slumped with relief.

“I’ve been doing some research of my own,” she began. “And by research, I mean…I’ve been following Hunter and Collin around. Watching them.”

Fear snaked its way through me at her declaration. “You’ve been spying on them?” I asked incredulously. “You have to stop.” If they found out about this, she would end up in my shoes, or worse.

“No. I’m sick of them getting away with whatever they want. I mean, look at your fucking body Aspen. They not only sexually assaulted you, but they carved their names in you too like you belong to them or something. It’s sick.”

I released a shaky breath, unsure of what to say. Nothing I said was going to make her realize what a dangerous game she was playing. Nothing would get her to stop. Not if this was really what she wanted. If anything happened to her, I’d never be able to forgive myself though.

Glancing over at her, her face was set in determination. She really had her mind set on this.

“Just…be careful.”

She nodded, her expression softening. “I always am.”

Groaning due to the pain my body was in, and because I had detention today, I gathered my belongings. A series of cuss words flew from my lips as I made my way into the hall.

Today, I wouldn’t be going easy on Monroe. This man was going to want me, regardless of how much he acted like he didn’t. It was a small attempt at taking my body back—even if he wouldn’t be touching it.

I hadn’t bothered changing into something more school appropriate since it was just detention, and it was Sunday. What was the point in dressing up just to sit at a desk for two hours?

When I made it outside, the cold, bitter air sliced through my skin making me shiver. Maybe I should have at least put some sweats over my shorts or something.

“Look who it is,” a familiar nasally voice sounded, echoing through the wind. Giggles followed, causing me to roll my eyes and before I knew it, I was face to face with Madison, Jessica, and Paisley—who was sporting a busted lip, two black eyes, and a bruise on her forehead.

I wasn’t surprised that she found herself in with this crowd. I also wouldn’t be surprised if she was their new Dory.

Paisley flicked her hair over her shoulder and stepped forward, narrowing her turquoise eyes at me.

Annoyance bubbled within me. “Is there a reason you’re bothering me, or are you just that bored?” I asked dryly, wanting to hurry this up. I had no doubt that if I was late to detention, he’d just give me another one.

“You didn’t miss me?” Paisley smirked. I rolled my eyes at the unclever remark. I’d had a long weekend and just wanted to get this over with.

Spinning on my heels, I turned to walk around them, but Jessica was there, a snarl curling her upper lip. Blowing out a sigh of frustration, I turned back to face Paisley and Madison.

“What the hell do you guys want?” I snapped. “I have places to be right now.”

“We want you to stay away from Collin and Hunter,” Madison answered, surprising me. “Oh, and Foster.”

“Foster?” I repeated, raising my eyebrows.

Madison nodded. “Paisley wants him.”

I snorted in amusement. “Good luck with that,” I retorted. “Foster doesn’t exactly like the female race.” If they could get all these guys off my back, then I wouldn’t be complaining. But they needed to have this conversation with them, not me.

“He screwed around with you, didn’t he?” Jessica questioned from behind me.

Right. They thought we hooked up. Because that’s what Foster made them believe. I shrugged in response. “Fine whatever. Just keep them away from me, and I’ll stay away from them. Sounds fair right?” Taking a step forward, I aimed for the gap between Paisley and Madison, but Paisley stepped in my way.
