I’d actually forgotten that Hunter had a girlfriend. At least he’d been up front about it though—with Raven anyways. “Not even you?” I found it difficult to believe that Gia would keep her head down during something like this. She didn’t seem like she was afraid of much.
A frown tugged at the corners of her mouth, and she shook her head. “I wanted to,” she admitted. “I was just frozen.” Guilt washed over her expression and her eyes glazed over as if she were reliving the memory. “Jessica threw her food all over Dory’s head, Madison too. And if that wasn’t enough, she got Collin, Myles, and Hunter to play along.”
My chest tightened as I imagined the humiliation she must have gone through. “What about Foster?” I knew him well enough by now to know that he would have gotten off on the torture. If stripping me naked and burning my face was any indication of that.
“Sat back and watched.” She rolled her eyes again. “Dory ran from the building, presumably to go shower after wearing everyone’s food, but this had all been planned beforehand. Jessica and Madison had replaced her shampoo, conditioner, and body wash with Nair. Dory had long, blonde hair that hit her waist, and she had quickly become well known around here for her hair regimen. It was always so shiny and well taken care of.”
“As much as getting your hair bleached off would suck, it sounds like petty bullshit to me.”
“Maybe,” she admitted. “If Dory hadn’t been allergic to it.”
My jaw slackened as I stared at her with wide eyes. “Deathly allergic?”
She shook her head. “Luckily, no. Her body broke out in this ugly, blotchy rash for weeks and there was permanent damage to her skin due to how much she’d put on. With her hair missing, and her skin all fucked up, she didn’t even look recognizable.”
“Why do I feel like there’s more to the story?” I murmured, not sure if I even wanted to hear the rest at this point. They did all of this because Jessica’s boyfriend looked at her for too long? On what fucking planet was that her fault?
“Because there is,” she went on. “While Dory had a crush on Hunter, she never would have acted on it. According to her roommate anyways. Jessica got Hunter to make a video where he called Dory ugly, sloppy, accused her of trying to fuck him, and that she would never compare to his girlfriend. Within the hour, the entire school had seen this video. She killed herself that night.”
Disbelief burrowed through me like a freight train. “Holy shit,” I muttered. “What do you think she’ll do to Raven if it gets out that she’s been hooking up with Hunter?” Or me if she finds out I sucked his dick. Not that I was scared of her or anything, but I was still curious.
Before she could answer, Raven dropped down into the seat next to mine—a shit-eating grin plastered across her face.
“Guess what,” she chirped, pinning her gaze on Gia. “Our costumes came in today.”
Gia perked up at that as she took another bite of her salad. “Really?”
Raven nodded and went on about how we were going to be some of the hottest girls there and whatever. Naturally, I started tuning them out, my attention still focused on Dory and what happened to her.
Glancing over at their table, I realized I had a direct line of sight right to them from where I sat. Collin threw his head back laughing at something Hunter said. From where I sat, they just looked like a couple of normal, teenage boys. However, I was beginning to learn that there was more to them than meets the eye.
Foster reached over and smacked Hunter in the back of the head which only caused the two guys to laugh harder. My heart accelerated as the thoughts of being in that cell plagued my mind. I’d never considered myself a masochist before, but there was no denying the way it felt to be owned, tortured, and naked before them. Though, I could have done without being burned. Maybe there really was something wrong with me. Normal people didn’t enjoy things like that.
They were still monsters and they deserved to pay for the things they’d done. But there was no denying the way the adrenaline pulsated through me. It made me feel alive, and I kind of wanted to feel that way again.
Chapter 18
Hunter
Annoyance consumed me as I chased Aspen around while trying to remain unseen. This was stupid, pointless, and just another way for Foster to control those around him. We’ve been following her for two days and she hasn’t told anyone. I’m pretty sure that if she intended on snitching, it would have already happened.
Not to mention, I was the worst fucking stalker in history. I had both Raven and Jessica blowing me up. Raven wanted to meet up about God knows what—probably to get dicked down honestly, and Jess wanted me in her sight at all times.
Ever since Foster planted the idea in Jess’s head that Collin and Aspen had something going on, she’s been watching me like a hawk. Just because Collin had no self-control didn’t mean that I didn’t.
Phone ringing for the twentieth time today, I snatched it out of my pocket, keeping my gaze pinned on the girl storming toward the cafeteria. placing it to my ear, I released an annoyed growl.
“Where are you?” Jessica demanded from the other end, not bothering to hide the annoyance in her voice.
“I’m literally right outside. Coming in now. Why don’t you go ahead and get us something to eat?”
If she was in the lunch line then she wouldn’t see me trailing in right behind Aspen, and that would save me an argument. She wants me far away from the trailer park whore, as she liked to call her.
“Okay,” she chirped, seemingly fine with my response. I pressed the end button and shove the device back into my pocket before stepping into the building.
Making a beeline for my table, I internally rolled my eyes upon seeing Madison planted on Collin’s lap. I knew it wouldn’t take long for him to go running back to her. Slipping into the seat next to Myles, my gaze flickered over to Aspen’s table, making sure she was there and that I hadn’t failed my little stalking mission on my first actual attempt.
Collin patted Madison’s hip in which she tilted her head to give him a look of admiration. “Why don’t you go get us some food, baby?” he asked her.
