I placed both of my hands on her shoulders and shoved her towards the chair at their table where she has always sat since she was a little girl.
“It’s alright, just sit here, and I’ll finish everything.”
She constantly had to do stuff; otherwise she didn’t feel useful. However, I didn’t like that, so I tried to help her where I could, so she got some time for herself.
“You don’t have to-”
“Shut up, Matilda.”
She chuckles as she slapped gently my arm before I returned smiling to the kitchen.
“For you, it’s still Tillie,” she argued and took a sip of her water.
“Whatever you say, Matilda.”
I smile to myself as I shoved the eggs on their toast and the ones for their father on a lonely one, with some waffles on it already.
As I sat the plates down in front of both of them, Jonas came down the stairs, dressed in a suit that looked pretty worn out.
His hair was styled, and his beard trimmed.
Another glimpse into his current state were the bags under his eyes and the way he swayed a little, barely noticeable.
“Good morning, Dad.” Tillie smiled at him, and he back, as he walked towards her to give her a kiss on the head.
“Morning, Sweetheart.”
He did the same with his son before he clapped me on the shoulder.
“Morning, boy, had a good night?”
“It was great.”
I lied and sat down beside Tillie. While they all ate their breakfast, I got out my phone and looked at the missed messages I had from my brother.
