“Are you sure you didn’t talk to River?” I narrow my eyes. Their words are eerily similar.
“No,” he says.
“Fine, I’ll go,” I say. “But I won’t be forced into anything.”
“We won’t force anything. We want you to choose to be with us,” he says, offended.
“No promises,” I snort.
“Tomorrow night, we’ll pick you up. Give me your phone,” he orders.
“Demanding.” I glare but go and get it, slapping it into his waiting palm.
“You haven’t seen my demands yet, darlin’,” he smirks. He enters his number and lets his hand graze mine when he hands it back.
I notice he puts in River’s number also. These wolves are trouble.
“Go home, wolf boy,” I urge. I cross my arms and lean against the door.
“You know I’m an Alpha, right?” he says, confident.
“Not to me,” I grin.
“Not yet,” he says softly.
I watch him walk away. I stay in the doorway until I don’t see him anymore. I may have stared at his ass the whole way. Wolves certainly are built in all the right ways.
I shut the door while bringing up Serenity’s number. I need to pick her brain. I can’t deny the pull to the wolves, but I need to be prepared.
“Hey, Ava,” Serenity answers.
“Are you busy?” I ask. I peek out the curtain to make sure I have no visitors lurking.
“Not right now. What’s up?”
“Well, I met Kerian today,” I started.
“Really? Where?”
“My car was making a noise. I took it in, at Harmony’s insistence, to her brother’s garage. He claims I’m his mate.”
“Holy shit,” she whispers.
“I also met River, who also claims I’m his mate,” I continued. “I ran, they chased, met my brother, kissed me silly, and blackmailed me for a date.”
Silence.
“Serenity?” I prompt.
“This is unexpected,” she murmurs.
“No shit,” I snark. “I need to know all about wolves and how to get out of this mate thing.”
“Uh-huh,” she hums. “Your brother was there?”
“Serenity? Come on, I need help,” I growl.
“Well, what’s so bad about being the mate of two hot wolves?”
