“Oh. Uh oh. The way he was looking last night. Girl.” The water streamed into the sink. “Nothing to be shamed about now.” She smacked her lips. “Listen. I don’t blame you. If you are on a rebound tour, that upgrade is fucking fantastic.” She laughed. “Literally, from the looks of it.”
I smirked. “I thought Georgia was bad.” I stood from the toilet, ready to face whatever awaited on the other side of the door. “I should have come home alone.” My face did have a significant glow to it. Despite the weariness I felt in my head, I lookedhappy.
“Tell me one thing.” She leaned against the counter, wiping her hands on the teal hand towel. “Did he dick you down?”
I could have asked her the same thing. She had the same sort of morning glow. That little smile that told me she had a night to remember her damn self. “He was a pleasant surprise.” I rubbed my hands through the loose strands of hair falling from my ponytail. “So pleasant I thought it had to be a dream,” I gushed. “Like now that it’s happened, I’m over here thinking how was I signing up to marry bad dick?”
She roared. Hurled her body forward and laughed so loud it rattled the space we were in. “Gigi,” she gasped with a hand to her chest. “No. Shawn was bad in bed?” The look on her face didn’t reveal whether she was serious or being sarcastic. “For real? He couldn’t fuck?”
I hushed her. “Tati.”
She laughed. “What?” Her shoulders lifted to her ears. “Not like you are going back to that situation. Even if there was any chance of him groveling, making up for the travesty he is, bad dick? Proven by better dick.” She sucked her teeth and shook her head. “Nope.” Then she laughed again. “Sorry for whoever thought she found something.”
I cringed.
“Too soon?”
I wagged my head. “Maybe.” It wasn’t like what she said didn’t have some truth to it. Thinking about theother woman, whoever she was, made my skin crawl. “Even if she did end up with the short stick, my hopes, dreams, future plans, everything went along with it.”
“Wait.” Her eyes bulged. “It was short too?”
I smacked her arm and said, “You are so unserious.” We both left the bathroom laughing.
We made it to the kitchen, sitting around the counter when I heard my bedroom door creak open. I held my breath for the moment he would step around the corner. Listening to his heavy footsteps as he padded down the hallway.
Tatiana and Georgia were equally as interested in his entrance. They stopped whatever jokes they were attempting to crack on Shawn.
“Oh shit.” A bare-chested Angelo looked between the three of us. “Good morning.” He pointed to the room behind him then asked, “Where’s the bathroom?” His dimples were on full display as his lips tugged into a smile.
“It’s…” I pointed down the hall. “You passed it on the way here.”
He nodded then turned back down the hallway.
Tatiana grabbed my arm. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and she said, “That man’s abs. Dear God.” Then she gulped. “And dimples?”
Georgia mouthed, “Whew. When my sis comes back, she comes back.” Her hand reached across the counter to high-five me, but I rested my head against my palms instead.

Angelo
I could have left the night before. Eased out of Gigi’s bed and hopped my ass back in my car. To my hotel across town. That pussy though. I looked in the mirror and shook my head.It had me paralyzed.
It wasn’t the only thing though. Lying beside Gigi in her bed with no covers, I could feel her body tremble. There was no way I was about to leave her shaking in the bed alone. Naw.
I could hear Cam grilling me about how I messed up. How staying would give her the wrong impression. Trying to school me on what was right for a one-night stand. Because that’s all it should have been. The two of us, one night, and that was it.
I had the season ahead of me. A new city. A crowd of women I could sample. Like Cam said, the possibilities were endless.
The way I was breathing fire, I shouldn’t have considered anything else. Should have relieved myself and skirted out of her house. Especially with her homegirls standing by. I decided I’d grab my shit and go. “Be like Cam. Don’t get caught up,” was what I uttered. But the smirk on my face let me know that pep talk didn’t hit like it should have.
Who wants to be like Cam for real?
I shuffled through the cabinet and her drawers until I found a stash of packaged toothbrushes. The variety was like an aisle at the store. I plucked one and unwrapped it before grabbing her toothpaste and slathering it on top.
After brushing my teeth and splashing water on my face, I headed back to the kitchen. “Y’all hungry?” I said when I rounded the corner.
Gigi stood in front of the fridge and her eyes landed on me after flashing to her girls. Her lip curled up into a smile before she answered, “Actually.” She bit the side of her lip. “I don’t have anything in here except ice cream and chips.”
