“Hey, Nora,” Bexley said back.

“My wife woke early. I’m going to see if I can get Tor down with his sister, who’s now out like a light, and take advantage of the situation, if you know what I mean.”

Bexley laughed, and they disconnected.

CHAPTER 3

“We need to talk,” Alice stated.

“What about, Your Majesty?” Alex teased.

“Bexley.”

Alex nearly choked on her tea.

“What about her?”

“So, I’m right?”

“About what, Alice? I’m not certain you’ve said a complete sentence yet.”

“Bexley.”

“Is she okay?” Alex checked, sitting forward in her desk chair.

“She’s fine. And you’re still in love with her, aren’t you?”

“I’ve never told you I was in–”

“Okay. Fine. You still have feelings for her.”

“Yes, but why are–”

“Alex, she’s thinking about getting back together with her ex-girlfriend,” Alice told her.

Alex bit her bottom lip.

“Are you still there?” Alice asked after a while when Alex didn’t say anything into the phone.

“I’m here,” Alex said.

“Holly reached out to her and suggested they get back together. Bexley told her she’d think about it.”

“What exactly amIsupposed to do with this information, Alice?”

“Alex, why haven’t you talked to Bexley about how you feel?”

“She doesn’t feel the same way about me.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Has she saidsomethingto you that I don’t know about?” Alex asked, picking up a pen off of the stack of papers on her desk requiring her signature.

“No, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be interested.”

“You’re her best friend. She’d tell you if she were interested in me, Alice.”

“You’re a Princess, Alex. You’re also the heir to the throne of the most powerful and well-known monarchy in the world. I really don’t think she’d tell me if she liked you – at least, not unless she knew the feelings were reciprocal.”
