Especially as we’d promised them all asylum with our pack. Including, as it turned out, my own personal siren, Sasha. Apparently, there wasn’t some heroic male who my headstrong mate had given the slip to. Just a deadbeat uncle who deserved a licking.

Who the fuck sold their own damn blood into the skin trade anyway? Someone who didn’t deserve to live, that’s who. The constant grumble from the beast in my chest ratcheted up a notch at the thought of what he was gonna do to that sick bastard.

“We got half of them dressed up in our club brothers’ or sweetbutts’ clothes,” he continued, ignoring my interruption. “We ain’t set up for this.”

“So?” I knew that measured tone. Mongrel was cooking up a plan. “What’s your proposal?”

“We already planned on paying some of these assholes a visit, right?” He shrugged, beast present in his deep gold eyes as he graced me with a wolfish smile. “Might as well get our guests’ stuff while we’re there, yeah?”

So, my Sgt. at Arms was spoiling for a fight, too. The lucky bastard had claimed his first mate last night. Yet my friend was set to crawl out of his skin. Now, I didn’t even need to question why.

This Chaos was set to be a fucking trainwreck.

“What’s your skin in this?” I growled, my wolf trying to goad him into admitting the truth.

“Need a reason?” Mongrel stated flatly. Clever bastard knew my wolf wasn’t ready to hear it outright. “What happened to these people was wrong.”

“True story.”

”Look, Prez. Popcorn got addresses from our guests. All I’m saying is, while we drop the rest off home, we should take care of a few problems. Restore a little order as we go. Those folks deserve something better than knowing the shitheads who did this to them walk free. Got the list right here.”

I leaned back in my chair, raising an eyebrow. “You spoiling, Sergeant?”

“Gotta bleed something, Prez.” Mongrel nodded without hesitation. “Reckon your wolf’s plenty up for it, too.”

I watched him for a moment. My friend was not wrong. My animal snarled eagerly, more than ready to bleed some sick fuckers. Better them than let our darkness spill out onto our own.

“Then grab your babies ‘cause we’re going for a ride” I ground out, letting the wild beast tear up my throat. “Our bad day just got an awful lot longer, beta.”

“Yeah,” Mongrel grinned. “But infinitely more interesting, right?”

At least my raging hard-on had died.

“Just us, Prez?” Mongrel added, shoving his hands in his back pockets as he stood up. “Think we should bring Carbon, too?”

“Is he gonna leave Winter?”

Oh, I’d heard all about their little courting ritual the night before. That ragdoll of a girl had stabbed my Enforcer with silver and the crazy fuck had let her. Case in point. The Chaos was driving us all insane.

He’d even slept in the hallway in front of our guests’ door ‘cause Sasha wouldn’t let him sleep in their room. Not that I blamed them, but it’d made a bold statement all the same. And put a dent in the smile of many packmates knowing our wildest brother had suddenly been tamed.

That had been some funny shit, actually, seeing the news travel round the bar this morning. A bright spot in my otherwise already shitty day.

“Well then, alpha—” my Sgt. at Arms drawled, stalking out of the room, “—make it an order.”

I threw my departed brother the bird. Mongrel sure as fuck had a bug up his ass so far it was tickling his colon. Goddess help me. The bastard was moody enough without the Moon Goddess riding his hide.

He turned at the last moment before he left and snarled over his shoulder. “I got Winter’s info. They sold her, too.”

Fuck. Her own flesh and blood had handed her over to the Bone Crushers, willingly? Yeah, that painted my world red.

“He’ll be riding with us,” I ground out, canines flashing and claws aching to bust out of my nail beds.

If Mongrel knew the truth, then the word would get around fast. Once our Enforcer heard, he’d need to let off some of his crazy. The Blood Moon Goddess would demand it. Having a little talk with the ones who’d wronged his mate would be just the ticket.

Heaving myself out of my chair, I opened the side drawer and started loading up. Sighing in relief as I put on my shoulder holster which gave my beast a sense of calm.

My brothers and I were going out to defend our mates’ people and bleed some evil cunts. My bad day was finally looking up.
