“Come and see me after you’ve met Mr. Chase, and I’ll give you a full tour of the office,” she says.

After I give her a nod, she turns around and heads back to her office.

“Clare, before you go, how is he this morning?” Parker asks, chuckling slightly.

“So far, he actually seems to be in a good mood for a change.” Clare shrugs then walks away.

Seems to be in a good mood for a change?Once again, I can’t help but wonder what I have gotten myself into…

“Have a seat.” Parker gestures to a small reception area. “I’ll let him know we’re here.”

I do as instructed and watch him walk over to the CEO’s office. He knocks lightly on the door before entering. As I wait, I begin to really hope this works out. I realize that I’ve already fallen in love with the office. I imagine myself coming to work every day in this magnificent space, learning from a titan of industry.

Just then, Parker appears in the doorway. “Jocelyn,” he calls, gesturing for me to come in.

I take a deep breath and follow him into the office.

“Jocelyn Mitchell, let me introduce you to our CEO and your new boss, Mr. Dylan Chase,” he says.

I have a smile on my face as I shift my gaze to take in the man standing before me. At first, I can only see his back because he’s looking out the window at the cityscape. However, my eyes widen in shock as he turns, and I suddenly feel faint. It’s clear he recognizes me too because his small smile immediately morphs into a full-on scowl.

Only me! This could only happen to me! How could I have gotten my hopes up so high already when I’m sure to be fired before I’ve even started? I stagger back involuntarily as I recall his threat to “finish me” after I accidentally hit his car yesterday.

The tension in the air is so thick that it seems to press down on my chest, making it hard to breathe as I see the scowl on his face turn into a smirk. I can tell he’s thinking about how to make me pay for what I did.

I am so screwed… andnotin a good way.

Chapter 5

Dylan

AsIturnaround,I instantly recognize the woman standing there smiling before me.

She is the woman who hit my Ferrari and then had the audacity to insult me. I could hardly believe it. She walked right into my office! I didn’t even have to lift a finger.

Initially, it frustrates me to no end that this is the woman Parker has found to replace Jessica. Of all the people in this city, he has to find the one person sure to grate on my nerves by her mere presence. And yet, he bragged to me about finding a replacement so quickly.

Then it occurs to me that this is a perfect way to get even with her and I feel my scowl change to a slow smirk. Oh, yes. I am going to enjoy being her boss. At least until I make her miserable enough to quit… Maybe I’ll draw it out, play the long game. Parker had made it clear that she has the qualifications to be a great asset to the company and having worked for my competition only increases her value. As annoyed as I am, I realize the best thing I can do is keep her on.

As I begin to think of the lowliest assignments I can give her, I take her in fully for the first time. Blinded by rage when we first met, I hadn’t even noticed that physically, she’s stunning. She has a lovely face framed with long, curly brown hair and large green eyes. Her lips are full and shapely. Her breasts are perky and large. Her hips are generous without being exaggerated. Her red suit accentuates every one of these features.

Thoughts of revenge momentarily forgotten, I imagine what it would be like to take her right there on my desk. I think about her naked body sprawled out beneath me as I dominate her. I imagine rolling her over and spanking her hard on her shapely ass before burying myself deeply inside her. The thought excites and terrifies me at the same time. It’s a feeling I’ve never known before, something that makes me feel powerful and weak at the same time.

Snapping back to reality, I say, “Welcome to Chase Media. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy having you work for me. I assume you know who I am now.”

“Yes, Mr. Chase. I know who you are now,” she replies with an appropriate amount of humility.

I can see that she is trying hard to remain calm and controlled despite her surprise at seeing me again.

“What a small world it is…” I smile and sit back down.

Parker has been standing there nervously assessing the situation. I notice his eyes darting back and forth between me and Jocelyn. Finally, he asks, “Do you two know each other?”

“Oh, yes. She’s the one who hit my Ferrari,” I say.

Parker rubs his forehead and looks back at her, the concern evident on his face. He gestures to the chairs in front of my desk and says, “Why don’t we take a seat and get better acquainted?”

Parker takes one of the chairs, and I watch as she looks between the two of us before reluctantly taking the chair next to him.
