I laughed. Logan called me and asked where I was. I told him I was in Lucian’s office and he responded saying that he was coming to join us. A few minutes later, he walked through the door and sat down on the other empty chair beside me.

“I am worried about something you guys.”

“What’s that? Is Ava fine?” Logan asked.

“Yea, she’s alright. I’ve been getting these.” I brought out my phone and opened the text, showing it to them.

“This is weird,” Lucian commented.

“Do you have any idea who they’re from?” Logan asked and I shook my head.

“I have no idea. I have gone ahead to tighten security around myself and Valentina’s house.”

“You need to also attach someone or some people to them personally,” Logan said.

“I agree. They need the extra security until you can find who this creep is.” Lucian added. I agreed with them. The conversation veered from that to office work and then personal stuff. Luna was turning one soon and Logan wanted to plan a big party for her while Adara wanted something small with only family and friends.

We dispersed and returned to our various offices. I called Valentina and told her that I’d be coming over that evening to discuss something and she agreed. After work, I went over to Valentina’s house with the personal security man I employed for her.

When I came in, the huge man in a black suit was walking behind me. Ava ran to hug me and I carried her up to scatter kisses all over her face. She took me to the corner where she was playing, pretending to have a tea party. I lowered myself into the tiny chair that could barely support my weight.

Her little teapot sat in the center of her table. She brought an even smaller mug and pretended to pour me a cup of tea.

“Thank you,” I said as I collected the cup barely the size of my finger. She sat down and pretended to sip from her own cup.

“Mommy refused to come to my tea party.” She said and I shook my head.

“That’s not nice.”

After a few minutes, she got distracted by another toy and I was finally able to get away and talk to Valentina.

“Who is the man standing by the door?” she asked immediately. We were in the dining section alone.

“That’s what I wanted to talk about. He is your personal security, Kyle.”

“My personal security? I don’t need one.”

“I think we all do. We got some intel to beef up security around us and our loved ones.”

“Intel from who?”

“We have a security team. By we, I mean the Pierce family.”

“Is it something serious?” she asked as she sat down on one of the dining chairs, I sat with her.

“No, it’s nothing serious. Just precautionary methods. I already have some people stationed around your house.”

“You’re doing all these and saying it’s nothing serious?”

“It really isn’t. You won’t even notice they’re there.”

“I’ll notice that there’s a man who looks like a human mountain following me about. Everyone will notice it.”

“I promise, it’s only momentary. We are getting to the bottom of things.” She nodded reluctantly.

“What about Vivian?”

“I’ll get her one too. We all need to remain safe. Where is she?”
