April: Sure, sure, but what’s he like in bed?
Me: We’re not sleeping together!
April: He bought you pajamas.
Me: I know what it sounds like, but he sent my clothes and underwear out to be washed while I was in the shower.
Why, why, why did I mention my underwear? Obviously, that would be included in my clothes.
April: The prince touched your underwear. How does it feel to know that?
Me: I doubt he touched them. I’ve been in them for nearly 24 hours now. Gross.
April: Girl, think about it. He most definitely touched them.
Me: OMG APRIL. Nothing like that is happening. I’m in my own bedroom in his suite because we’re both drunk and tired, and I didn’t want to deal with my brother tonight, and I couldn’t get an Uber.
Okay, that last part is a lie. I could have asked the Uber to take me home, but in the end, his offer was too lovely to pass up.
April: Right. You know I would have come to get you if you called me.
Me: I know. But when will I get a chance to stay here again?
April: That would be the thirty-first of Never, lol.
Me: I know.
April: You’re telling me you haven’t hooked up with this man yet? What kind of date is this?
Me: It’s not a date. But we did kiss.
April: AND??
Me: It was nice. We danced, and we kissed, and then we sort of squabbled. And now we’re in bed. Separately.
April: You do know that he’s supposed to declare his fiancée by the end of the month, right?
Me: Yeah, I know. I’ll admit it makes me a little sad that he’s going to move on, but I’m not that upset about it.
April: Hailey. Are you reading the words coming out of your fingers? He kissed you. He spent all day with you and didn’t order you thrown into a dungeon.
Me: We don’t have those here.
April: And now you are in his hotel room, and he definitely sniffed your undies while you were in the shower. He’s a dirty dog.
Me: OMG BYE.
April: He fucking rolled around in your sweaty panties before he called housekeeping.
Me: Noooo!
April: Move on that boy before it’s too late.
As my eyes droop, I type goodnight and then roll over to face the door.
I like Torben. I’m deeply attracted to him. But to become engaged to a prince after a month? That’s not me. Is it?
My mama got engaged after a week of knowing my daddy, which is enough of a cautionary tale to give me pause.
