“You saved my camera! I completely forgot about it with everything that happened. Thank you so much!”He wanted to smile back, but with the camera in his mouth he couldn’t quite manage it, so nodded instead.

“Aiden, take care of Mackenzie then meet me in my office.”Marshall said to him.

Looking over at him, Aiden noticed he was watching him, and he nodded again.

He gently set the camera on the ground, then shifted back. Walking over to the cabinet near the stairs, he reached in and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a shirt. After slipping the pants on, he turned to Kenzie.

She was the only one still standing there and was still in wolf form. It looked like everyone else went back to their days. He was sure Jordan was probably grabbing help to handle the dead wolf in the clearing, but the other guards would return to patrol.

“Come on sweetheart, change back and put this on till we get you to your room.” He held the shirt out to her, but she just shook her head at him.

Aiden smiled, “I won’t look. Promise.” Then he put his hand over his eyes. Listening, he heard the cracks and snaps, indicating that she had changed back. Then the shirt pulled from his hand.

“Okay. You can look.”

He opened his eyes, and nearly fell over. The shirt covered her, but only to mid-thigh and her legs were on full display. She had smooth skin, lightly tanned by the sun, her legs were perfectly muscled and beautiful. It made his mouth water just looking at them.

She walked closer, then bent over and picked up her camera. When she stood straight again, she was right in front of him. He could feel her breath hit his cheek. She leaned up on her toes and placed a light kiss on his lips, then pulled away again.

“Thank you, Aiden.” Then she headed into the house, Aiden following behind her.

Chapter 10.

Aiden

As Aiden waited for Kenzie to finish her shower, he started wandering around her living room. Well, he was pacing really, trying to figure out what the reason for the attack could have been.

Was this the danger that Rhiannon warned them about? If so, what was the goal? It seemed like the wolves were trying to take her, not kill her. Was it because of whatever power they held?

And speaking of power! Mackenzie healed him! He didn’t have a single mark on him, and he had double checked. In minutes, she had healed him good as new. But he could tell that it had taken a toll, as had the fight. She was exhausted. Aiden wanted to tell her to lay down and rest, but she had a stubborn set to her jaw, and a determined look in her eyes.

He knew that look because Marshall had the same one when he was set on something, so he didn’t push.

As he was pacing, he heard a soft meow. When he looked down Fiona was standing at his feet, looking up at him expectantly. Cats didn’t usually like werewolves, but he figured, living with Kenzie and being around her whole life, she was used to it.

Aiden crouched down next to the little calico and slowly reached out to scratch behind her ears. She immediately started rubbing against his hand. She was so sweet. He gently picked her up and stood back up, holding her against his chest. She was purring nonstop as he pet her. She butted her head into his chin a few times, making him laugh. He had wanted a pet when he was a kid, but his parents had always said no.

Now he felt like maybe he missed out, though with six kids, his parents had enough to deal with.

He was still cuddling Fiona when Kenzie came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a large towel, hair still dripping. That was fast. It had only been about 10 minutes since they entered the room. He didn’t think any of the women he knew could shower that quick. It was impressive.

When she saw he was holding Fiona, she smiled at them, “So I see she has won you over too huh?”

Looking down at the kitty in his arms, he nodded, “Completely.” Then he glanced back up at her and noticed her left shoulder was mostly healed, but still had a large angry looking red welt.

He set Fiona down and walked over to her, turning her gently so he could have a better look.

“See, almost gone. I’m okay Aiden.” She touched his cheek, then walked into the kitchen and filled a glass with water, “Give me two minutes. I just have to throw some clothes on.”

She disappeared back into her room.

A few minutes later, fully dressed with her hair thrown into a messy bun on top of her head, he led her into Marshall’s office. Aiden didn’t bother knocking because he knew Marshall was expecting them.

What he didn’t expect was to see Sorcha sitting on one of the couches in the corner while Marshall sat across the room behind his desk.

“Hey.” He walked over to Marshall’s desk as he motioned for him to sit.

Then he turned to Kenzie, “Could you maybe talk to Sorcha? I think she’s scared of me. As if I would ever hurt her. But you’re a woman and she might be more comfortable talking to you.”
