“Hey, baby girl. It’s okay. Momma’s here. Let’s get you some medicine and find out what’s going on.”

In a worn-out voice, she says, “Hi, Loggie.”

He dries her cheeks. “Hey, Isabelly. You not feeling good?”

“Na uh.” She shakes her head before resting it back on my shoulder.

Inside, Hannah appears at the top of the stairs. I swear she turns a darker shade of green with every step she takes.

“Mom, I don’t feel too good.”

“Come here, baby.”

She reaches me just before she vomits… all over me.

“I’m sorry,” she cries.

Maria gags.

Isabel screams again.

Logan has probably run away.

“You can go, Maria. Thanks so much for looking after them.”

Her eyes are watering. “I’m sorry. I would offer to help, but my limit is vomit.”

I laugh despite my soaked clothes. “It’s fine, honestly. I can handle it.”

She’s grabbing her jacket and leaving in the next breath.

“Let’s get cleaned up,” I say, wiping the back of my hand against the sheen of sweat breaking out across my brow.

“Why don’t you come over here, Isabelly?” Logan reaches for her, and she goes.

“You don’t need to stay. This isn’t included in date night.”

“Sure it is.” He runs a hand over the top of Hannah’s head. “You two get cleaned up. I’ll get a cool cloth for Isabel.”

His offer of help is like a punch to the chest in the best way.

I blow out a breath, relief making my shoulders drop. “Thank you.”

“Divide and conquer, pretty girl,” he says as he disappears down the hall while rubbing Isabel’s back.

I think she’s already asleep.

Looking down at my stained clothes, I can’t help but laugh.

I press a kiss to Hannah’s forehead. “Come on, baby girl. Let’s divide and conquer.”

After finally getting the girls’ temperatures down, I changed from my vomit coated clothes into sleep shorts and a T-shirt.

I go downstairs, surprised to hear music floating from the kitchen.

He’s still here, and it hits me that he never left us. The smile creeps to my lips before I can stop it.
