After everyone had a drink in their hands, we raced to see who could finish their bowl first. I wasn’t surprised when Jaxon won, and Katie came in second.

Jaxon stuck out his tongue, and it was bright red from his fishbowl drink. I felt butterflies right below the zipper of my white jeans. I had the urge to grab his face right in the middle of the bar just to taste him.

His green eyes met mine, and whatever energy was passing between us couldn’t be shoved aside any longer. All our friendship needed was some alcohol to push us into trying whatever this next step was.

“The Attic! Let’s go to The Attic!” Sam screamed and threw a hand into the air.

I smiled shyly at Jaxon and turned toward our crew. Just as I went to take a step forward, he slipped his fingers through mine and tugged me back into him. He placed my hand on his hip while his fingers grazed the back of my neck. His eyes trailed up my stomach, and his mouth curved into a grin. I could’ve collapsed right there in the middle of the bar.

I slowly pulled him closer to me in case he changed his mind. When he didn’t hesitate, I parted my lips and gently placed them on his. They were soft and full and tasted even better than I imagined. He drew his hand from the back of my neck and pulled me harder against him. He lightly bit my bottom lip, sending a pulse from my groin all the way down to my toes. He smiled against our kiss and waited to see how I would react. It felt like fireworks were going off in my chest.

I wasn’t sure if I could last the rest of the night. I drew back from him and led him out of Nate and Wally’s so we were out on the street.

“Tell me about the Fun Dip you’re looking for.” Jaxon stopped me right in the middle of the sidewalk. A tight smile was on his face, and he was completely oblivious to the hordes of students who were trying to get around us. A few girls openly stared when they caught a glimpse of who was blocking traffic.

“Not here.” I took his hand and started back up the street toward Main. From there, it was only a five-minute walk to my apartment.

He stopped me again once we rounded the corner of Wooster. He pulled me back into him and leaned closer, his scent intoxicating all control of my common sense. “I want to hear you say it.”

I had to remind myself that we were standing on a street corner. This man in front of me wasn’t the Jaxon I was friends with. This was Jaxon on a Friday night, trying to work his magic. I didn’t know about this Jaxon yet. My scenario had me sleeping with the version of Jaxon who bought my hazelnut iced coffees and ate chili with me on my living room floor.

I was overthinking. I didn’t want to choose this moment to suddenly become logical. Clearly, he was interested. He just needed me to take the next step, and this was him asking for permission.

“Just come with me,” I pleaded. “I’d rather show you.”

When we finally got back to my place, the apartment was awkwardly quiet. The leftovers from our pregaming were scattered all over the living room, and the lighting was suddenly very unflattering. I felt three shades paler than I actually was.

I pressed play on the Roku remote, and Katie’s Drunk Betch playlist continued through the speakers. Jaxon took the remote from my hand and threw it on the couch. He kissed me, his mouth a little more eager than it was in the bar. He held the side of my face with one hand while his other hovered over my bare stomach. I pressed my hips into his and felt his erection through his jeans.

I suddenly becameveryaware of what was happening. If I weren’t expecting Katie to return at any moment with Tyler, I would’ve ridden him right on the couch. I pulled away from him and looked toward the front door.

“Why don’t you show me your bedroom?” Jaxon coaxed, taking my hand and lacing his fingers with mine.

I instantly felt weak in the knees. I’d wondered since I met him what this would be like. My head felt empty, but I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. All I saw was a guy I knew I had feelings for, a guy I was falling for. I wasn’t sure why that was so hard to admit to myself.

I wanted to feel him on top of me. I wanted to moan his name. I wanted himnow.

“Come with me,” I whispered right before I led him down the hall.

Chapter14

Jaxon

October 2015

Maci’s bedroomlooked like a typical college girl’s bedroom. Photos, frames, and collage boards covered the beige stucco walls. A queen size bed sat in the corner of the room, and a green and gray comforter was ruffled against a pile of matching throw pillows. A decent-sized closet with a full-length mirror was next to her bed. A TV was mounted across from the bed, and a desk with a laptop, books, and random clutter took up the last empty wall.

Our only source of light peeked through the curtains, grazing half of her room. It was just enough. There was nothing worse than having sex in some bright ass light after being at the bars all night.

Maci slid off her sandals and didn’t waste any time. She slipped her hands under my shirt and ran her fingers down my chest. Her lips found the sensitive part of my neck, and my body tensed against her touch.

I placed my thumbs on the waistband of her jeans and started to work on the button and zipper. It didn’t take me long. My hands found the backs of her thighs, and I lifted her up. She kissed me, and I felt her smile against my lips. I softly bit her bottom lip, and her mouth parted.

She wanted me, and I wanted her. If we didn’t do this tonight, we probably never would.

My tongue weaved against hers, and our pace quickened. I laid her gently on the bed without breaking our kiss and felt her hands going at the zipper of my jeans. I took my time and trialed soft kisses down her neck. I felt her lips part against my ear, and a small moan escaped her throat.

Ilovedwhen girls made noises. But hearing Maci moan did something different for me. I wanted to hear this girl say my name.
